I'm fun-loving & laugh easily. I enjoy spending time with friends, and also embrace quiet time at home with my Bible, favorite Mickey Mouse slippers, and four loyal pets. (2 dogs, 2 cats) I really think they're only loyal because they haven't yet figured out how to open their food box on their own.
I spend my time away from home in a few different roles. I work for the Organ Procurement Organization for Southern Nevada. (Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation) My job focuses on regulatory compliance, but I do get to spread my wings a bit with efforts in public education and participation in events promoting donation and transplantation. In that capacity, I truly enjoy meeting and talking with people who have questions about, or are interested in knowing more about the miracle of organ and tissue transplantation.
I'm also a leader in a Women's Bible Study through my homechurch. I lead in two areas: Small Group Leadership and Tech. Tech is really just an avenue of creative outlet - I get to play with stage lighting, sound, video display, etc. I'm fairly new at Small Group Leadership - still learning the ropes there, but it's been a great journey of growth for me and the ladies I lead.
My passion lies in the area of helping people. I'm currently pursuing my Master's degree in Mental Health Counselling, and I attend a Counselor Training class at my church. The path I am on will include becoming a Lay-Counselor at my church while working on my degree. After I graduate, I plan to continue my education to pursue my doctorate. In the meantime, I hope to one day open my own Marriage and Family Therapy practice.
When I don't have my nose buried in books, I like to get out and enjoy God's craftmanship. Las Vegas may be "neon and money", but the surrounding areas are quite the opposite. My favorite place to get away from all the noise is Zion National Park - a quick two hour drive from home. When I don't have a whole day for hiking, I stay a little closer to home and enjoy Red Rock or Valley of Fire. During the summer, when it's insanely hot, I tend to stay away from the hiking scene and head for the water (Lake Mead or Lake Mohave).
While I feel I'm a fairly well-balanced person, I do still desire to be partnered with someone who will lead me spiritually, hold me accountable for my growth, and be comfortable to come alongside me in all areas of life. (You'd also need to be comfy having me come alongside you.) I like guys who are secure in their own skin. I'm not interested in "changing" someone - I'd like to be fully confident that God has been and continues to be in control of how you have changed (grown) and how you will change or continue to grow. I look to God, first, to learn about people. I try to see them the way He sees them.
First Date
I'm kind of old fashioned. I like the idea of "dinner and a movie", but I'm open to just about anything. Well, within decent boundaries, anyway - I don't think I'm going to agree to go skydiving on a first date. (Maybe the second or third!)
I don't drink coffee, but Starbucks is a favorite place to go for a casual conversation. They make a very yummy chai tea latte - grande nonfat, six pumps, extra hot with nutmeg on top. Mmmmm! God has certainly blessed the Baristas!
