About Me
I am a born-again Christian. My favorite chapter in the Bible is Psalms 139!! I turn to that chapter often -- it is such a comfort! My mother led me to the Lord when I was 8 years old.
I was born in Iowa and raised an Iowa farm girl. I graduated from a small public high school in Iowa. I grew up in a Christian home and went to a Christian college in Indiana. Up until February 2003 I lived in Virginia where I was married for over 20 years. I have a 20-year-old son that I cannot say enough good things about. He works full time not far from where I work in West Des Moines, IA. He lives with friends near me also. We are very close. Having my son was my greatest gift in life -- Raising my son has been my greatest honor and privilege. I am an administrative assistant at a prestigious architectural firm in West Des Moines. I absolutely love my job and the people I work with. I am a conservative Republican.
As a Christian I never imagined that I would find myself divorced. My husband abandoned my son and I Christmas of 2002. Bad things do happen to good people. My son and I returned to Iowa to be near my family in February 2003. What we do with the failures and tragedies in our life reflects our character and our faith. God can mean it all for good! Seven years is a long time -- but my whole world can change in a minute -- in God's perfect time! My BGF says that men are intimidated by an attractive woman and too scared to write me. I certainly hope that isn't the case. Looks come and go -- but the beauty that lies within is the real treasure.
I am a very kind, loving, outgoing, and fun person. I enjoy many things. I feel that I am well rounded. I seek to do the Lord’s will and have always been a moral person, but I assure you I'm not a prude!! I know how to have fun!! I’ve never done drugs or smoked. I don’t have a problem with someone having a wine or drink occasionally with a meal. I enjoy playing piano and grew up singing in church. I love to cook (but love eating out too!) and I enjoy and have a knack for interior decorating. I enjoy reading non-fiction books when I get the chance. I enjoy going to movies (not into horror or blood and gore movies). I would like to take ballroom or 2-step dancing lessons. I love to travel anywhere and everywhere and have been to some wonderful places in my life. I like to play “at” tennis. I enjoy bicycling on the many bike trails in the area. I love going to amusement parks and waterparks. I am a warm/hot weather type person (because I can wear my strappy high-heeled sandals and sundresses!LOL). There really isn’t much that I don’t like to do. I am a very loving, romantic, and passionate person. I am smart and have a good sense of humor. I love life and people. I am an encourager and a cheerleader and care about people. I am a very real, open, and honest woman just trying to lead a faithful life for my Lord which includes working at my job the very best I can, taking care of my son and being there for him, paying my bills, paying my taxes, honoring my God and Country, and treating my friends and neighbors and co-workers in the manner in which I want to be treated. I believe you get back what you give in life.
Above all I am looking for a faithful, honest, compassionate Christian man who loves the Lord and puts Him first. I want a man who is a romantic and knows how to treat a woman right. I want a man with common sense who is a little "old school" in his ways. I like to do things and go places and experience new things! My life is already good and fun but I wouldn't say full. There is a void. I believe God created us for relationships and companionship. Life is meant to be shared. I would like to experience and enjoy life with a great man if the Lord sees fit to bring us together -- a man I could respect and honor and admire and trust with my heart. I'm not into liars, cheaters, users, or players.
Hopefully, by now, most people realize that just maybe the person God has for you doesn't necessarily live in your small town or even your city. In fact, they might not be within a 50 mile radius of your home either. Thankfully, in this day and time, we have planes, trains, and automobiles and fast ways of communicating. I'm looking for someone who isn't limiting theirself or God as to where their future mate might be...it's a small world these days. Thanks for reading my profile!!
First Date
Oh, surprise me!! There are soooo many things one could do on a first date . . . and a second . . . and a third!!!LOL Life is what you make it!! Same way with a date!! But I guess a nice quiet little corner in a really nice restaurant where we can talk and get to know each other would be great!!
