Here is an interesting article on baby boomers divorcing: http://www.marketwatch.com/story/your-failing-marriage-is-about-to-make-the-retirement-crisis-worse-2017-03-13?mod=MW_video_top_stories

The article has two comments. First, many get divorced because they feel entitled to pleasure after years of sacrifice. Secondly, divorce is hard to deal with financially and those who divorce don't understand until it happens to them.

Does anyone have a theory on why divorce is becoming common among baby boomers? I personally think that socialism and feminism are two causes but what do you think?

this is just me, but I think we are getting older, we (baby boomers) were a very family oriented generation, but we also redefined family. Now, we've raised our kids, made our career moves, and I think so many boomers are unfulfilled and wonder

"is that all there is?"

My aunt and uncle were married 20 years, and divorced. I think they always loved each other. My uncle, however, is a very difficult man (he's 76 now, and my aunt has passed) I think after my youngest cousin left, my aunt just wondered where her life was going, and what was left.

People have the delusion that being "happy all the time" is somthing that defines a good marriage when staying even if you are not happy all the time is closer to the truth. "I'm not happy anymore bye"... they basically conveniently forget the "for worse" part of the vows.

The exception being one spouse falling into adultry and the the other not being able to forgive, which is understandable. Personally I'm more of a till death do us part kinda guy, the parting being via justified stoning if need be... but that's just me when I'm being a bit bitter at life.
