Sabbath 3/3/18 Alfred Station NY Seventh Day Baptist church (12/23/17) Pastor Ken sermon �He Is Who He Is� Romans 1:2-4

We are blessed today because we can go to the Word of God. We can look at it and say it means something to us today. The Word is sharper than a two edged sword. There was the man who started the Dollar General store. This man wanted everything to cost just a $1.00. This is why he sold a pair of shoes with each shoe being a $1.00. He then had a lot of mixed matched shoes left over in his store. This is what people try to do with Jesus Christ. They only want to buy one part of Jesus without buying the other part of Him. Jesus was fully God and fully man. Truly God and truly man.



In our scripture He is who He is, fully God and fully man. The gospel was promised a long time ago thru the prophets. We can go back to Genesis and Numbers and a King will arise. In Isaiah a virgin will give birth to a Savior. All this we see in the Old Testament. In verse 1 of our scripture it says the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It does not say the gospel of SDB churches or the gospel about the Sabbath or the gospel about a set of rules. The scripture says the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The gospel is about the person of Jesus Christ. Who is He? He is fully God and fully man.



As a man, Jesus was a descendent of David. There are a lot of begets and begets until we get to Joseph. Joseph was Jesus�s adoptive daddy so Jesus took on the heritage of Joseph. Joseph was a descendent of King David. In the book of Luke, which talks a lot about Mary, in chapter 3 there is a genealogy of begets. This is believed to be Mary�s genealogy. Because of many wars it was needed to trace the family tree thru the mother to make sure a person was really Jewish. Who was Mary a descendent of? David! So from both sides, Joseph and Mary, we have a descendent of David. Paul is saying that Jesus if fully man and has the right to sit on King David�s throne because He is a descendent of David. Why? Because Jesus�s mama and adoptive daddy had lines of lineage that go back to King David.



The baby Jesus that was born in Bethlehem was also God. The second person of the Godhead and the Son of God. Always the begotten of the Father. When you have the Father, you have the Son. When you have the Son of God, you have the Spirit. Jesus is the only begotten of the Father. Jesus had the Spirit of Holiness. He was without sin. Yes, He had been tempted but He was without sin. In the wilderness when He was fasting 40 days, the devil did tempt Him to turn some stones into bread. Jesus said NO to this and the other temptations the devil brought to Him. Jesus was without sin.



The scripture says Jesus died but then He was resurrected from the dead. He came back to life! We can walk thru local cemeteries all we want but will never see anybody pop up out of their grave. We wouldn�t stay around if we did. The power of the resurrection is a miracle and 500 people saw Jesus alive after the resurrection. Jesus is Lord and has the power of the Father, the God of the Covenant. Jesus is the same substance but a different person just as the Father and the Spirit are different people too. �Jesus is Lord, He is Lord, He is risen from the dead and He is Lord. Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord�. The question is�.have your knees bowed to the lordship of Jesus?



If you have not done this, then you need to come into a personal relationship with Him that not only says that Jesus is your Savior but He is your Lord too. Why? Because it is said your knees will bow now by volunteering or in the future by compelling. But every knee shall bow because Jesus is fully God and fully man. Truly God and Truly man, descendant of King David. Jesus is declared by the Spirit of Holiness and His resurrection from the dead.
