Is intelligence a turnoff? If so, why?

Yes, I am truly baffled in this category. I would think it would be a desire to bond with someone who would be considered an asset who wants to go forward and achieve goals together and encourage each other. What am I missing?

Different kinds of intellegence...

In general though men have come to learn that the more intelligent (IQ wise) woman have higher paying jobs and a higher view of themselves than "normal" woman.... there is NOTHING more emasculating than a woman that both gets paid more and manages to "out-think" a man. So essentially such woman are high risk potential partners and usually the only thing that gives a man enough courage to risk his manhood so to speak is him having lots of money of his own.... which is why such woman tend to end up either bitterly divorced or retiring as old maids with a lot of cats... yay woman's lib.

Oh dear....

I know plenty of men that are smart, smart enough to have married the woman they are married to, to listen, to put her above everything (except God), to support her spiritually, emotionally, mentally, physically and financially.

Smart enough to know that no one else will love them the way she does.

Smart enough to admit they have work to do and willing to do it.....

Intelligence can't hold a candle to wisdom obtained from God. Truth and wisdom are connected, but the same can't be said for wisdom and intelligence.

Intelligent men and women can think well, but those who lack God given wisdom can't thoughtfully act. Men and women are able to rise to power with their intellect, but without the specified wisdom to rule there is a flagrant absence of authority.

We only have to look to the assimilated (worldly) church system to see how feeble the intellect is. The leadership rise to prominence through the worship of academics, but they don't have the Spirit derived compulsion or strength to do the work, they are absent wisdom and without authority to care for the flock. The by-product of this is effeminate limp-wristed men, and insolent women who think it their place to take the lead because the men are incompetent.

Don't lean on your intelligence and get wisdom, which is the principle thing after all:

Proverbs 4:7

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding

Excellent points by Sevendust.

For sure, high intellect doesn’t always translate into common sense. For example, there’s a lot of 4.0’s who really think the theory of evolution has intellectual respectability. Obviously high intelligence isn’t always a remedy for credulity.

Worse yet, I’ve heard and read quite a few absurd objections to belief in God from quit a few extremely smart people!! But the Bible says only a fool believes there’s no God.

High intelligence and a good memory, not withstanding, are blessings strait from God.

Unfortunately some people use their high intelligence carelessly, others use it downright stupidly

I might marry an intelligent woman even if she thinks stupidly but only if she proves to be humble and teachable at some point.

But I might marry a slower thinking woman who is wise and loves God with all her heart.

The average for a high school student is 115-120, while a college student should be 125 or above. Your IQ is certainly above average

Most of our Presidents have had an above average IQ, except for the current one, who's college measured it at 118. Even George Bush Jr had a 132 IQ, and people joked about his intellect. Our most intelligent President, believe it or not, was President Carter, with a reported IQ above 180. Don't forget, that humble Peanut Farmer had been a nuclear engineer when he was in the military...

There is also evidence that most genes responsible for IQ are inherited from the mother's side. So if you want to have bright successful children...
