Another good idea cupcake.

Fundamentally there are only 2 classes of religions on earth.

One class of religion believes that all men are intrinsically good. Through variously concocted doctrines, this class of religion teaches that people are good enough to earn eternal life by doing more good things than bad.

All religions except Christianity believe this kind of merit based “salvation” deception (some religions apply various terms in lieu of “salvation”).

BUT only one religion (Christianity) states the ubiquitous sinfulness of all mankind (except for One man). In other words, only Christianity teaches that all mankind (except for the One man) are TOTALLY corrupt because of sin. But the biblical idea that all people are bound for hell to be punished for breaking God’s law runs counter to the sensibilities of human pride. So to “save” face, humankind creates non-condemning religions. Humankind resists the condemnation of the law of God. For sure, all of us would prefer to believe we have an internal “goodness” that’s acceptable to God but if we believe that we deceive ourselves

The trouble is, God’s holy law demands perfection and for 30 some years Jesus loved perfectly and obeyed God’s holy law. Therefore, all lawbreaking people (which means all people everywhere) are subject to God’s judgement and damnation.

EXCEPT for one the fact,

Jesus’s perfect works can be transferred to guilty sinners. (this is called the doctrine of transference and justification). This takes place in heaven when sinners confess their sinfulness to God and plead his mercy. In response, God removes the sinners guilt and replaces it with Jesus’s perfect holiness and works (imputed righteousness). Since the sinner has now been perfected and clothed with Jesus’s perfect holy works he can stand holy and perfect (guilt free) before God without condemnation.

This is all because of Jesus’s perfect earhly life of obedience and his death on the cross.

So Jesus bore our sin on the cross in his body. So God judged our sin that Jesus took with him in his body to the cross!

So, the sinner is free from all guilt before God because sin has been judged.

AND NOW a saved sinner (saint—saved one) can now stand clothed in/with Jesus’s perfect obedience (as if the sinner had lived perfectly on earth himself) before God.

So it’s ALL about Jesus!!

HIS work, HIS life, HIS righteousness, HIS death on the cross. HIS grace

We live by HIS righteousness only.

Our “righteousness” stunk like filthy rags. That’s humiliating!
