Shouldn't we? Same thing with salvation. Contracts, covenant, agreements, etc... as long as we know what we are getting into and abide by them justly, then IMO, all is good.

Most people never fully commit to anything unless someone forces them, just look at the high divorce rate.

Why can't it be looked at more than one way? Just because it's a covenant/contract doesn't mean "love" isn't part of the deal. In fact, I think sometimes we need the "contract" part of it as a reminder when things get a little rough. We gotta remember, we may be upset, but we love that person and are bonded to them.
