However, if you check the budgets of the Evangelical churches they only have about 1 percent for the poor and about 40 percent for the church buildings and their amenities!
Romans 16:5; ! Corinthians 1619; Colossians 4:15 and Philemon 1:2 shows that the early church held church in their own houses or homes!!
I Timothy 5:17,18: The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is **PREACHING AND TEACHING** {Which would also include prophets and evangelists} For Scripture says, "Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain," and "The worker deserves his wages!"
I Corinthians 9:10,11,14: Whoever plows and threshes should be able to do so in the hope of sharing in the harvest. If we have sown spiritual seed among you, is it too much if we reap a material harvest from you.... The Lord has commanded that those who preach the Gospel should receive their living from the Gospel!
Ephesians 4:7,11-14: To each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.... So Christ Himself {Not the churches} gives some to be **PROPHETS**, some to be **EVANGELISTS** and some to be **PASTORS** and **TEACHERS**, to equip His people for works of service , so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness in Christ!!

We are not saved by works but if you have been born from above you will give much more than 1 percent to the poor and much less than about 40 percent for church buildings. God's born from above follow God's commands for helping the poor with the Divine hope of countless heavenly eternal rewards for faithful and loving service!!
If a Christian gives all his money to a church that gives ZERO to 1 or 2 percent to the poor according to God's Word you are **SINNING**. Instead a Christion should give at least 20 percent of his total giving to the poor personally and then contribute the rest of His giving to his church that only gives about 1 percent to the poor. Or maybe he should join a church that gives about 20 percent to the poor. But he may have an extremely hard time finding such a church in the USA!!
Ephesians 2:8,9: For it is by **GRACE** you have been saved, through **FAITH**—and this **NOT FROM YOURSELVES**, it is the **GIFT OF GOD**—not by works. So that no one can boast. So who do the poor give their tithes to? Other poor people?
Tithing is an act of faith before our God who can multiply it infinitely if He chooses.

prophetic, yes and no. I can't say I carry around a calculator making sure I precisely give 10 percent and that it drops straight into the hands of someone who is poor. I do believe tithing is important, but the tithe is an offering to God, and isn't directed specifically towards poor people, as I don't see that it needs to be. If it can raise a new church, pay bills for ministry, or whatever else, then I'm all for it. If it buys someone a loaf of bread who can't afford it, then I'm all for it.
So here is my question to you. Why be the guy who goes around telling everybody they're wrong?
When you take on that role, you become a person others ignore or even loathe. There's little value in that type of relationship. You change people by loving on them. Then once you're there, they are more likely to listen to you.

TOTH3M4X: Do you work so that you have something to share with those in need as God's Word commands??? We are all thrilled that you tithe to your church but we are a little disappointed that you don't care if your church gives anything to the poor and needy???

Instead a Christion should give at least 20 percent of his total giving to the poor personally and then contribute the rest of His giving to his church that only gives about 1 percent to the poor. Or maybe he should join a church that gives about 20 percent to the poor. But he may have an extremely hard time finding such a church in the USA!!

I never said I "tithe to my Church." Tithes aren't to the church, they're to God. What do you suppose the churches are supposed to give to the "poor" and "needy." As far as I know, the greatest gift that can be given to anybody is God's Word, which includes salvation.
Who are the poor to you? Who are the needy? I would suggest that before God we are all needy. There comes a time when we have to make God the focus, even when there are those who are "poor" nearby.
Matt 26: 6-13 Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat. But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste? For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor. When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me. For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always. or in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial. Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.
You keep saying, but we should "give 20 percent" and ensure it gets to the poor. Okay, you're saying that. I don't know of God ever saying that though. Who should I listen to?

We are all thrilled that you tithe to your church since the elders decide where the money goes; but we are a little disappointed that you don't care if your church gives anything to the poor and needy???

Where does the Bible name a specific percentage to be given by each of us to the poor? What is that percentage?
Either there's something that says it or there isn't. If you have nothing to support it, then you are adding and I will disregard.

TOTH3M4X: Do you believe that it is OK that the average Evangelical church in the USA to give about 1 percent to the poor and needy. Unfortunately there are many who believe that the only important part of the Gospel is that many are saved and go to heaven and that they go to church 2 times a week and pay there tithes to the church.
Matthew 28:18-20: Jesus says, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations.. Teaching them to **OBEY EVERYTHING I HAVE COMMANDED YOU**!. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

What is your source that shows it is only 1 percent?
What scripture demands a specific percentage to the poor?
What scripture makes me responsible to analyze each church and their budget?
Tithing is an act to God, not the church (or the poor). That doesn't mean a church establishment or "poor" individual may not benefit from it, but God is the foundation in it.
By being judgmental, are you promoting fellowship? If you formed a church and this was your basis for it, how many do you suppose would attend?
We must know our duty, and sometimes that means stepping aside while God upholds His Word.
