Other times pretenders have their craft so well honed they come across looking like the finest of genuine gold but in reality they’re the finest of fool’s gold. If you don’t know the importance of knowing the difference between a pretender and a good person when it comes to matrimony, maybe you should talk to those whose hearts were broken by predatory pretenders. Pretenders try to look like good people obviously. In fact, pretenders have leeched into Christianity since the beginning. Remember Judas? This guy looked good! So much like the other disciples! Well, except for the fact he used to steal money from Jesus. But Jesus knew Judas was a devil from the start. I knew a pretender who actually street preached for Jesus! But that’s nothing, Judas did more than that, he actually healed people too and did about everything the other disciples did for about 3 years before finally betraying Jesus But then there are bad people who genuinely turn good (with aid from the Holy Spirit), like Mathew and the sinful woman who washed Jesus’ feet. But how can you tell who the pretenders are??? I think there are several ways but one very good way is to observe how they receive correction. That is, whenever they are caught in a real fault or error (not a false accusation). Do they express anger at the one correcting them and refuse to acknowledge any wrongdoing or do they love the one correcting them and humbly accept the correction acknowledging the wrong? Try this. Try correcting (nicely) a would be boy-friend who curses and cuts someone off in traffic. Now let’s see if he admits to the wrong ooooor will you be the next person he cuts off !! If you do get cut off by him, consider yourself fortunate!! Post Reply
