Why was Thanksgiving, named 'Thanks' giving

When the Puritians first left there countries and set sail for Amercia, it took money to sail accrost the ocean. So some financial investors paid for the trip with the agreement called 'mercantilism' (see mercantilism and thanksgiving)

Basicly the aggrement was for 100% of the the lumber that was cut, and 100% of the corn that was grown...all of it was to be sent back to the home country and sold (so the investors would receive a profit) then the investors would send a cargo ship of supplies back to the colonies.

In short mercantilism was a step away from being like communism and socialism. And as you can guess it almost caused the people to starve to death.

So take some time to be thankful that we do not live under a regime that tries to enforce mercantillism, communism, or socialism!
