I heard it on the TV downstairs and went to watch it. I've seen it more times than I can remember and yet its still rewatchable. Why?

I find that era in U.S. history quite interesting, especially the space race. And maybe it reminds us that sometimes we as humans get so fixated on some lucrative goal that our arrogance can sometimes be our downfall (Titanic, anyone?). But it also shows how we come together in the face of imminent tragedy, persevere, and work together.

And let's not forget about the talent. Tom Hanks, who has always amazed me by his ability to literally morph into any character. Gary Sinise, Ed Harris, Bill Paxton...

Any fans?
