Whether judging is good needs to be defined according to scripture. By default with many of us who went through secular schooling, we analyze, judge, make a few internal calculations because it is one of the easiest things for anyone to do.
Unrighteous judging is basically condemning another, browbeating another, trying to wound anothers heart. This is where Jesus said the measure that you judge, you will be judged also.
Righteous judging comes into play when you are around anyone else and notice unaddressed sin in either your life, or someone within your presence. Acknowledging that sin, and taking preventative measures to avoid falling into that same trap laid out by the adversary is where righteous judging should come into action. If you want to try to address sin in another, that's your choice. Truth has a bodyguard of lies.
I was judged harshly by a young male manager once and I was so surprised that he was the most insulting person I'd ever met with no training in supervising at all. He just wanted to exert his power in front of a young lady. What a beast he was!
We need to stop looking at "Judge" so negatively. When we drive a car, we determine, judge the distance we want to keep between the car in front of us and our front bumper.

In Paul's first letter to the church at Corinth, he was chastising the church for not using judgment in their dealings with each other. At one point he even asks, Is there not a wise man among you, not even one, who would be able to judge among the brethren? And also, He who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. We are to use Godly judgment.
We can never judge someone's heart, that is not our job, but we can judge their actions. We have been told not to judge for so long, people are starting to use it as a defense for sin. Have you ever gone to a sinning brother as the Bible tells us to do? The first thing out of their mouth is don't judge me. That followed by, remove the plank from your own eye before trying to remove the splinter from mine. Then they can't tell you of a sin you have committed.
