hi...I am a huge christian metal, hardcore, & punk fan...A lot of religious people feel that rock music is the devils and that all christian hard rock is bad...I have news for them, God created music, not the devil, who also has created the lie that christian rock is evil...my favorite groups are Demon Hunter, Fasedown, Call to Preserve, War of Ages, Decyfer Down, Disciple, Still Remains, As I lay Dying, Underoath, Flyleaf, Seventh Star, Alove for Enemies, Living Sacrifice, Day of Fire, Switchfoot, Reliant k , Pillar, Kutless, Jesus Wept & of course, the mighty P.O.D. There are many others but I want to get this posted. I assure you that coming out of secular music (slipknot,slayer,S.O.D.,hatebreed etc.)before I became a christian, I have to watch what I listen to...I assure you that all the afore mentioned groups have a message of God and about God and Fasedown and Disciple even have scriptures look up that go with the song..I pay very close attention and read lyrics and if the messge isn't there, I will not listen to it....anyone who would like to comment positive or negative, I invite you to comment on this forum because I am interested in how the rest of the church feels about my post...God bless you all Christian Warriors and believers in His eternal truths..

There is no differrence between let's say: marilyn manson and the beatles or rod stewert secular music is secular music! Gods word clearly says:DO NOT DO AS THE WORLD DOES, AND IT IS GODS WILL TO KEEP ONESSELF FROM BEING POLLUTED BY THE WORLD! The devil is not stupid he has been doing this for 6000 years, just because mansons lyrics are obvious.. its the unseen, the subtle that we should be concerned with.. if satan knocks at the front door we know who it is... he likes to sneak in through the cracks in the foundation... what it comes down to is compremise, did god really say that, just like in the garden of eden. every child of god who has been born again and has received the holy spirit knows deep inside that secular music isn't right for the true child of god. Anyone who puts their hand to the plow and looks back is not fit for service! Put off your former self, be renewed by the transforming of your mind...just remember struggling with sin is onething and we all stumble in many ways, but willfull disobediance is another. If a man knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it he sins. Gods word is VERY CLEAR about this subject..... there is so much awesome christian rock/music out there. Use the discernment the holy spirit gives you...deep in our hearts we know what is right and wrong, which voice are you gonna listen to? The holy spirits gentle whisper or your screaming sinful nature? God bless.

I just wanted to say that my comment about "maybe you need a new job" was directed solely at TORQUE....and after reading your comment again, it really sounds like you have one foot still firmly planted in the world.

the enemy can not create. only God can create. God created praise and worship and He made us all different. if the devil can corrupt God's praise and worship and bring about songs that glorify him in all genres, then why can't that genre be reclaimed and made to glorify God? many people will be grabbed by Christian metal that would never be grabbed by southern gospel or even the lighter contemporary stuff. the former and the latter have to come together. when we can learn to embrace BOTH the old fashioned, tried and true hymns and what not of the old days, AND the contemporary and heavy metal and rap and everything else of today, then we will see an awesome, mighty move of God. His people have to get together and agree to disagree. there is nothing new under the sun . . . the new stuff is based on the same principles and love of God that the old stuff was. and if we say that God can only move in one direction or one style of music then we have placed a limit on an omnipotent God.

i agree that music carries a spirit w/ it. i really like the christian rock group skillet and kutless. that kind of rock has a lot of passion, emotion, and expression. if it is worship rock, then rock on:rocknroll:

i tend to have this problem with fellow Brothers in Christ with them saying "it's of the Devil" but Jesus said told his deciples to reach all the corners of the world and be the light in the dark world we're living in. how are we going to reach or relate to none Christian metal heads if there is no music that appeals to them?

i agree, Christian metal is down to taste but i don't think it should be disreguarded because the lyrics are hard to hear.

Casey of Flyleaf is contantly open about her faith in Jesus t shows. the guys from Underoath are always talking about God at their shows.

i'm a metal head and i find Christian metal bands are more passoinate for the lost than rock bands.

hey there.

yes great post! thanks for sharing. I totally agree that God created music and every form of it. whether thats using a harp lyre flute or drums and guitar to the extreme. music is music.

now question is...does all music Glorify the Father...no. but its not about notes as its about the lyrics. The lyrics should not be questionable and hidden and leave you guessing but obvious and with clarity.

Do i like hard rock! nope! lol...although from time to time i will get my skillet fix in gotta love those guys. but generally speaking absolutely not why because I cant relate emotionally to it. It brings me down and doesnt lift my spirits. However, this is me as a woman for starters and just my preference. For someone else I believe that it could do the opposite. For example, the colour red could be a uplifting colour and would want to paint every room in there house that colour to cheer them up and to someone else it could remind them of blood or death who knows. Experience and preference dictates who we are. Look at TobyMac and his son. He is teaching his son how to rap and be successful later in life. Is that against Gods will...nope! If God is givin the Glory in rap world that may have heard it otherwise awesome!!

thats my story and I am stickin to it! Good post!

although i listen to skillet and switchfoot - I have a much great respect for TobyMac and Lecrae. There success is not based on fear of a stereotype. Its embracing who they are to their core and becoming a great example of what it means to truely not be ashamed as they know what that Christian Label has done to their hearts and lives. why not sing about it. its who they are now. it would be a lie to them selves to not be bold as we are called to be. That consistency is key!

The one name Jesus that has power in our lives is the same name we are replacing with labels like HERO instead. go figure. even Christians are conforming!
