To me, being a Christian means...
Striving to develop and maintain an ever-closer relationship with God/Jesus, learning to recognize and realize and abide in His presence by establishing and maintaining a spiritual connection through spending time with Him in prayer, Bible and other devotional reading/study, meditation/reflection upon one's reading, enjoying/appreciating God's creations in nature, and listening for and following His voice/guidance/direction throughout one's daily walk and along one's ongoing journey in this life. Finding one's place alongside fellow sojourners as part of a local church congregation, coming together for worship, praise, teaching, discipleship, and fellowship. Learning more together about God/Jesus and discovering how to grow and mature in relationship with Him and one another. Living out the Faith by intentionally and actively practicing community, service, mutual aid, and working or advocating for positive change that will serve the common good/greater good of all ... including social justice and peace concerns.
As a significant part of living a Christian lifestyle ... I also strongly embrace the Christian concepts of simplicity and simple living -- seeking alternatives for simpler living and a simpler life ... and ... living simply, that others may simply live ... -- which naturally incorporates the faith-inspired principles and practices of ... stewardship of the environment and of all living things , or " Creation Care ."
Other than your parents, who has been the most influential person in your life and why?
Dr. Martin Luther King, jr. I was always very inspired and motivated by the wisdom and passion he used to build a movement of conscience, based on our shared Christian faith. He was indeed one of the most important figures of the 20th Century, especially for those of us in the USA, helping us to face our particular demons of slavery, apartheid, and racism ... and work to overcome them ... and to teach us all what is really important as fellow human beings -- that we are members of one race, the Human race, and are All God's children, created in His image.
My past relationships have taught me...
To concentrate more on listening to and indeed Hearing the other, and always taking into account the other's feelings, ideas, preferences, hopes, desires ... before making decisions affecting the other/the two of you, and preferably to always make significant decisions affecting both ... together. And above all, Communicate ! ... . Don't make any assumptions about what the other is thinking or wanting, etc.
My ideal relationship:
A sincere yet light-hearted committed relationship ... based on a foundation of a friendship of mutuality, equality, sensitivity, caring, and unconditional love. Working and playing together, as we grow individually and as a couple. Setting individual goals and mutual goals alike. Enjoying life to the fullest, as we seek a meaningful, fulfilling life together.
