About Me
I Greek...need I say more? Full of passion and excitement!
My , Eleni, has its origins in Ancient Greek and it means illuminated one. I'm exuberant, enthusiastic, optimistic, imaginative, intriguing and intellectually engaging-definitely a literati. I'm grateful for receiving a careful education in Europe, learning to speak 5 languages and being infused with the love of aesthetic, intellectual and philosophical pursuits, yet, above all, it is 's unsurpassed wisdom that I seeking after.

I like engaging in meaningful conversations and really good at cooking. No matter how educated or sophisticated a Greek woman...she knows how to cook 😚 I feel like opening a restaurant..."Eleni's Salads and Plato..." As far as culinary preferences, I like a variety of dishes especially Greek and prefer food that promotes good health.

I come from a culture with a strong male identity where men initiate contact and are the pursuers in a . It seems that men in our times do not know how to function in their given masculinity. Instead they appear sort of lost and ask women to tell them what to do. I value emotional awareness and can not waste time on being in any situation with unclear ending. I desire a courtship like our grandparents had and a Christ centered life partnership-a daily loving exchange filled with honor and respect
Quite a few gentlemen here list chivalry as one of their greatest attributes, in the sense that they hold doors open. Chivalry must go deeper than external courtesies and manifest in honoring a woman's heart and spirit. I consider men with emotional depth-even if they don't do home improvements-irresistible. As far as looks, the Pillsbury dough boy holds a certain appeal...Not interested in men in the 10 years younger range...I'm sure that breaks a lot of hearts but such is life...:

Favorite books, movies, shows, music etc.

Books:

The Bible is priority. Classic and Modern Literature, The Iliad, The Odyssey, Plato, Aristotle, Aristophanes, the Greek historians Xenophon and Herodotus. Modern and contemporary Nobel laureates. A vast variety of authors and works.
I enjoy Christian writers such as Steve Arterburn and his latest, "Mediterranean Love Plan"
Also John Eldredge who wrote the amazing book "Wild at Heart"
I must include the publisher's summary: " designed men to be dangerous" says John Eldredge. "Simply look at the dreams and desires written in the heart of every boy: To be a hero, to be a warrior, to live a life of adventure and risk. Sadly, most men abandon those dreams and desires-aided a Christianity that feels like nothing more than pressure to be a 'nice guy.' It is no wonder that many men avoid church, and those who go, are often passive and bored to death." In this provocative book, Eldredge gives women a look inside the true heart of a man and gives men permission to be what designed them to be-dangerous, passionate, alive, and free!

Additionally, I enjoy reading books on relationships John Townsend, Henry Cloud, and one of the greatest books ever written about marriage titled "How we love" Milan and Kay Yerkovich. What can I say about C.S. Lewis...he is incomparable. Some quotes him:
'Miracles do not, in fact, break the laws of nature.'
‘An explanation of cause is not a justification reason.’
‘We are not living in a world where all roads are radii of a circle and where all, if followed long enough, will therefore draw gradually nearer and finally meet at the centre: rather in a world where every road, after a few miles, forks into two, and each of those into two again, and at each fork, you must make a decision.’

A poet myself, I love poetry and a variety of poets such as Percy Bysshe Shelley, T.S. Elliot, the Greek Nobel laureates George Seferis and Odysseas Elytis. Among the greats, Maria Rilke Rainer, Shakespeare, William Blake, Keats, Yeats, Longfellow, Emily Dickinson, Lord Byron, Edgar Allan Poe, Pablo Neruda, e.e. cummings, Langston Hughes (what a multifaceted man) Kahlil Gibran...there is no end..
--------------
Movies: There are so many...
Ben Hur with Charlton Heston, It's a Wonderful Life, Cinéma Paradiso, The Count of Monte Cristo (both the book by Alexander Dumas and the on screen adaptation) Romancing the Stone...old classics...also films in French, Italian, Spanish and my native language, Greek.

Music:
I listen to Christian music of various genres from the Gaithers to DC Talk to Jesus Culture...I like Mendelssohn but also Cat Stevens...Burt Bacharach...Johann Sebastian Bach, Johann Strauss, Pink Floyd, Latin jazz. avant garde, Brazilian music...the amazing Andrea Bocelli...
As a Greek, I love music...we feel music beyond our souls...NOTHING gets us like our music. We feel every single word with passion, with an ache. Unless you're Greek, you wouldn't understand. Greek songs are almost always about undying passion, or passionate pain, or passionate love. We don't do passion by half measures
I also enjoy attending ballet and other dance performances, going to museums, art exhibitions. I have a soft spot for the impressionists.

Having been raised in the Mediterranean region, I hold an endless fascination with the sea and love seafood especially grilled and smoked salmon. I have enjoyed living for many years in Colorado, a high altitude terrain graced with the majestic Rocky Mountains but I desire to live in a warm climate by the ocean.

Sea Fever

I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by;
And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea’s face, and a grey dawn breaking.

I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull’s way and the whale’s way where the wind’s like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over.

Some thoughts:

I spend a lot of time thinking about the plights the Adamic Fall has afforded us...

How has a flair for the dramatic! Have you seen the skies in grand display of thunder and lightning?!

...how brave the bunch of us on this website must be, seeking a in these tumultuous times...

I appalled the way relationships are handled in this culture. As soon as there is an offense people go their separate ways. The perseverance and commitment that I witnessed growing up in Greece are rarely present here. The Greek culture has a very different approach, diametrically opposed to the revolving door mentality. I honestly wonder how people survive such continuous emotional devastation and restarting their lives on a frequent basis.

On the brighter side...let's not forget: Attraction is way more like magic than science. It's intangible and surprising and there is no formula...and that "Love is swell, but maturity, transparency and mutual support are what keep it together..." (Carolyn Hax)
also... "a boat doesn’t go forward if each one is rowing their own way." Swahili Proverb.

Message me if distance does not intimidate you. "The brave do not live forever but the timid do not live at all." The only thing that's truly terrifying is the unlived life. Where would we be without transatlantic romances?!

I have the greatest sense of humor, hence my presence on this website...

Sorry, I do not respond to messages from profiles with no photos.
First Date
Take a walk the ocean (we must find an ocean to stroll ...) and have a conversation. I have lived in the Rocky Mountain Region for many years but plan to relocate close to the ocean.
