My name is Yerko, and I am twenty-eight years old, going on twenty-nine. I was born in Valparaíso, Chile, but am currently living as an international student in the US, studying a Masters degree in Classical Piano Performance. I was born into a very musical family. I was born with Retinitis Pigmentosa, which means I am partially blind. However, God has blessed me mightily throughout my life, and continues to do so.
As I mentioned in my headline, I am a Christian, and my first priority is to follow and obey Christ in every aspect of my life. I was raised in the Roman-Catholic Church, but began studying the Bible for myself when I was nineteen, which led me to make the decision to leave it. I was baptized into Christ for the forgiveness of my sins on February 22, 2015, when I was twenty-two years old. Thus, I am not a member of any denomination, but am simply a Christian, a member of the church described in the New Testament. I have preached, and also lead Bible studies for brethren. I want, first of all, to grow as a child of God, and be more like Jesus. I have many flaws, thus, am far from perfect, but I love the Lord, and want to grow in faith, love, trust, service and obedience in order to grow in my relationship with him, and also be the man and leader he wants me to be.
One of my greatest desires is to find a godly wife, who also loves and fears the Lord, and, if the Lord wills, to build a God-centered marriage and home with her. My hope is to find someone who is a member of the Lord's church who fears God, whom I can serve God with, pray with, and discuss the scriptures with, and someone whom I can love and lead as God intends. All this is for the purpose of helping one another, as well as our children, serve God and go to heaven. Meanwhile, my tentative hope on this website is to meet and get to know people. I hope to eventually settle, if the lord wills, in the US permanently, and work and raise a family here.
Some interests I have are music, reading, movies, and discussing spiritual things with brethren. Some qualities that are important to me are faith, honesty, a love for God and his truth, integrity, and faithfulness, both to God and others. As I love God and marriage, I have the strong conviction, based on the scriptures, that sexuality is intended by God to be a physical expression of the one-flesh marriage covenant. This means that I am firmly convicted that all sexual intimacy must be reserved for marriage, and only for marriage. Anything else violates God’s intent, dishonors the marriage institution, dishonors the person’s body, dishonors and defrauds the person’s partner, dishonors the person’s future spouse, and dishonors God. Therefore, purity in relationships and personal conduct is also extremely important to me. Finally, a dedication for spiritual work is also important to me. I hope my future wife and I will work together to fill our home with God’s word, teach it to our children, and contribute to the edification of our local congregation and to the spread of the Gospel.
