OVERVIEW:
I'm Cory. I believe in biblical marriage and I'm looking for a woman to fulfill that role. I hold a master's degree and am capable of providing for a family. I have no children and have never been married, but am hoping to change that soon.
FAITH:
Christianity is important to me, but denomination isn't. I consider myself a Christian, with no particular denomination. The only thing that's important to me is attending a bible believing church. I am also not "charismatic," and believe in a more word-for-word interpretation of the bible. I believe that Christians should strive for unity.
PERSONALITY:
I would describe myself as a scientist. Actually, that's my career path. I love to learn things, talk with interesting people and experience new things. One of my favorite things is one-on-one conversations, where I can get to understand others. I am very relaxed, calm and rational. I would prefer going to a coffee shop and having a deep conversation over a chaotic environment. I am a great listener.
RELIGIOUS BELIEFS:
I don't claim a particular denomination, but I would consider myself a protestant and have enjoyed Baptist, Lutheran and Church of Christ churches. When I have a family, I will probably need to select one, for the purpose of getting plugged in and fellowship.
I don't think a relationship with a Catholic would work, unless there was an agreement to disagree. As long as the primary tenants of Christianity are followed, I don't have an issue disagreeing on secondary issues that arise from different denominations/personal beliefs. I just want a Christian. No two people agree on anything, and I'm sure all denominations are wrong, in some ways.
I could see different denominations working. In general, I want a church that is focused on worship, prayer, bible studies, growth (sanctification), service to others (homeless, etc.) and fellowship. I avoid churches that are charismatic (speak in tongues/active miracles) and are cult-like (i.e. community/disciple groups that try to pressure you to share intimate information/confess sins when they first meet you. I confess directly to God and I can see value in doing this in a one-on-one setting with a pastor/elder, but not a group of people.)
POLITICAL VIEWS:
I follow the news, but having the same political views is not important to me. I think religion and politics should be separated. I consider myself an independent. Sometimes I vote Republican, sometimes Democrat and sometimes independent. I think all parties have some good ideas and some bad ideas. I might describe myself as a populist/nationalist, but I think each issue through case-by-case. I am not an ideologue, but some people are, which is why I am writing this. I don't care if my partner has different views than me. I have no desire to argue over politics. If you care about matching political views, than we wont be a good match, because my political views are all over the board, and they change often. I don't agree with myself sometimes.
