About Me
Who are the child of God ……?

Most people call themselves children of God, sometimes you are talking to someone or you are evangelizing someone and the statement or response of that person is “I am a child of God, God loves me as I am . He created me how I am, I do not hurt anyone therefore I am a child of God ”, these are some of the statements of some people, we know that God made man in his image and likeness but that does not mean that we are children of God , in

Genesis 1:26 Then God said, Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness; and rule over the fish in the sea, over the birds of the sky, over the beasts, over all the earth, and over every animal that creeps on the earth.

But almost always we interpret a text of the Bible to satisfy ourselves or to benefit us and that happens when we do not accept or do not want to accept what the word tells us, those people who do not accept or who half accept what the word of God says is because they are slaves to this world "I do not agree with this text because it does not benefit me" these are one of the many excuses of those people who do not accept the word of God completely.

But the word of God is very clear brothers and that we can see in many parts of the bible, the apostle Paul gives us some of the characteristics of who are truly the children of God.

Let's see what Romans 8:14 says, Romans 8 is going to be today's study chapter so have your bibles ready in that chapter.

In Romans 8:14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God.

Here the apostle Paul makes a clarification to us that the children of God are those who have the Spirit, here we see that that Spirit the letter E is written with a capital letter which means that which is the Spirit of God that is upon us, which is the Spirit of God that guides us, is not the spirit of ourselves,

John 14: 15-17
The promise of the Holy Spirit
15 If you love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever:
17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him; but you know him, because he abides with you, and will be in you.

Here this text the Lord Jesus Christ is speaking with the apostles about this Spirit, but here we also see a clause or a request that the Lord makes us, so that we can receive this Spirit.

Luke 4:18 (Isaiah 61: 1) The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
Because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor;
He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted;
To proclaim liberty to the captives, And sight to the blind; To set the oppressed free;

Clearly the apostle Pablos gives us this statement and at the same time gives us some of the characteristics of who are the children of God, we must not fall into that trap of many people who believe they are children of God but are not, therefore brothers Lord sends us to scrutinize the deeds.,

John 5:39

39 Search the scriptures; because it seems to you that in them you have eternal life; and they are the ones who bear witness to me.

In Romans 8 the apostle Paul teaches us about how to live in the Spirit.

We are going to study the following aspects: Condemnation, The Law, the flesh vs Spirit, the inheritance of being children of God, The Hope in those who hope

1. Condemnation
Verse 1 goes like this: There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

It clearly indicates that those who walk in the flesh will become damned, but those who are guided according to the Spirit will not become damned because they have the Spirit and those who have the Spirit, Christ is in them, because as we saw in Luke 4: 18 where Jesus himself said that the Spirit of the Lord was upon him.

Remember that before coming to the feet of Christ we are children of the devil, therefore, we live in the flesh and do the desires of the flesh and the flesh is sin and death, otherwise if we are in Christ we do the things of the Spirit.

John 8:44 you belong to your father the devil, and you want to do your father's wishes. He has been a murderer from the beginning, and has not abided in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of himself; because he is a liar, and the father of lies.

2. The Law (Sin, and Death)
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.
3 For what was impossible for the law, because it was weak through the flesh, God, sending his Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and because of sin, condemned sin in the flesh;
4 so that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

In order for the law to be fulfilled in justice in us the Lord had to become flesh because sin lived in the flesh of man in this way Jesus conquered sin and therefore we were freed from sin and death, to be guided according to the Spirit .

3. The Flesh vs Spirit
5 For those who are of the flesh think about the things of the flesh; but those who are of the Spirit, in the things of the Spirit.
6 For dealing with the flesh is death, but dealing with the Spirit is life and peace.
7 Because the mind of the flesh is enmity against God; because they are not subject to the law of God, nor can they;
8 and those who live according to the flesh cannot please God.
9 But you do not live according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit, if the Spirit of God dwells in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his.
10 But if Christ is in you, the body is truly dead because of sin, but the spirit lives because of righteousness.
11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
12 So then, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, that we live according to the flesh;
13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

Here these texts of the word are key to understand a little more because those of the desire of the flesh take us away from the privilege of being children of God, it says that the designs of the flesh are enmity against God because they are not subject to the law of God , It also says that we are in debt but not to the flesh so that we do not make the desires of the flesh because if we do so we will die, if not rather we are debtors to the Spirit, because Christ lives in us and if so we will put to death the works of the flesh and we will live forever.

4. The inheritance of being children of God
14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God.
15 For you have not received the spirit of slavery to be again in fear, but you have received the spirit of adoption, by which we cry out: Abba, Father!

16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God.
17 And if children, also heirs; heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if we suffer together with him, so that together with him we may be glorified

Being adopted into a family of great prestige has many advantages and many blessings, being adopted into the family of the creator we are deserving of an unprecedented inheritance, like calling our creator Abba, Father, for me that is the greatest satisfaction of any being human may have, being children of God we break that spirit of slavery in which we were bound, just as Christ suffered in this world so must we suffer to obtain together the glory in Christ Jesus. On the other hand, if we are in the family of the father of lies, the only thing we will get would be death.

5. Hope in those who wait.
18 For I am certain that the afflictions of the present time are not comparable with the glory to come that is to be manifested in us.
19 For the burning desire of creation is to await the manifestation of the children of God.
20 For the creation was subjected to vanity, not by its own will, but because of the one who subjected it in hope;
21 because creation itself will also be freed from the slavery of corruption, to the glorious freedom of the children of God.
22 For we know that all creation groans together, and is travailing together until now;
23 and not only she, but also we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, we also groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.
24 For in hope we were saved; but the hope that is seen is not hope; because what someone sees, why wait?
25 But if we wait for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.
26 And in the same way the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for what we should ask as appropriate, we do not know, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with unspeakable groans.
27 But he who searches hearts knows what the Spirit's intention is, because according to the will of God he intercedes for the saints.

Being children of God is a privilege it is having the blessing of our father, being in the spirit makes us die the sinful flesh that we carry because of the father of lies, but that does not mean that we have it easy for the simple fact of being Children of God, we are going to have afflictions, we are going to have weaknesses because this flesh was sin, it was death, but if we keep our hope in Christ we will be saved, but that hope is not the one seen in this world but the one that is not seen because if not then it would not be hope, it says that the same Spirit helps us in our weaknesses, it says that the Spirit intercedes with unspeakable groans, He knows what is in our hearts He knows what the intention of the Spirit is in us, because the Spirit It is already in us and according to those intentions if it is God's will He will intercede for us who are already saints
