I'm not your typical man. I'm not into sports, I like talking about my feelings, and I always ask for directions.
What I am, though, is a man who's always striving to follow Jesus more closely. I'm a born-again Christian, a child of God, and I am filled with the Holy Spirit. I'm ultimately looking to get married, but I want to start slowly in getting to know someone and not rush into anything.
I am an open, honest, direct communicator. I say what I mean, and I don't ever have any hidden motives or agendas. I similarly value direct communication in others - if you want to know something, ask me; if you want me to know something, tell me.
I'm a classically-trained musician, and although I'm primarily a vocalist, I also play French horn, trumpet, and some piano. I'm also a proficient writer, and like playing around with words and language. I enjoy making people laugh, and almost everyone I've ever known has told me I'm one of the funniest people they know.
In relationships and friendships, I treat women with respect, as equals. I value their opinions and respect their boundaries. If I'm interested in someone, I will pursue them with assertiveness and intention, but will not have any hard feelings if she decides she wants to be just friends. I have a lot of female friends, many of whom I was interested in at some point - I'm not the kind of guy to just end a friendship because it wasn't going to go anywhere else.
- First Date
- For a first date, 99% of the time I'll opt for a casual brunch, lunch, or dinner. This allows for a low-pressure, friendly meetup, where both people can converse freely, and get to know each other better. Then we might go for a walk, or check out a local bookstore or someplace. I'd never take a first date to a movie theater.
However, what I like to do is ask the woman, "would you like me to pick someplace, or would you like to collaborate on the decision?" This gives her the option of allowing me to be decisive if that's what she's more comfortable with, while also demonstrating I'm thinking about what she wants. I'm thoughtful that way.
