Is there anything more futile than trying to describe ourselves in one of these profiles? Well, here is my attempt by telling you a story about the “Gully Bull” which I think exemplifies who I am and how I go through life. When I was about 12 or 13 my family and I had been out to the sand dunes riding four-wheelers and were returning home. Around that time Dugway Proving grounds had been in the news because they were destroying our chemical weapon stockpile and it is relatively close by where we were traveling. It was dark and my brother was driving and suddenly he swerves the car and starts hollering “Did you see that!” and his wife chimes in right after “what was that? It was glowing green and had red eyes!!”.
We kept going for a bit then the car starts stalling we slow way down the lights go out my sister-in-law is making panicked sounds. After a few seconds the lights come on and the car is running. We make our way to Tooele where my brother stops at a gas station and says he is going to call the police. He is over at the payphone for a couple minutes talking animatedly then returning to the car tells us that they have had other sightings and if you do it follows you to your house and attacks. Well at this point you can imagine that I was nearing panic. I kept asking what it was and what we are going to do. He tells me it’s a Gul something and we will have to look it up when he gets home.
After a couple of hours of panic, we get home and I have a good plan I’m going to load up all our guns and we are going over to our cousin’s house who I know is a great shot. I hustle downstairs and start gathering ammo and getting things ready and my brother grabs a dictionary and says here this is what they officer told me it was it’s a Gully Bull. This is what he showed me.
