About Me
Why is it that some guys 60 or 62 want a gal 10 years younger than they are? Gee whiz, give us older gals a chance. This reminds me of when I was 49 and the minimum age for some club for widows & widowers had a minimum age of 50.
4/23/18 After having lived in my vehicle for over 3 years, I now have a home. I'm renting rooms from a nice Russian lady. I moved in the afternoon of New Year's Eve, and when I got off work from Papa John's that night, it felt so good to actually lie down in a warm bed!
9/3/16 Never EVER take your vehicle to Oakwood Transmission!

Attention guys: If the thought of dentures makes you feel queasy, or if you like to enter "follower of Jesus" in place of an actual job, please do not message me. Please! No one "separated"!
I have been widowed 21 years, and I'm tired of searching. A friend who was widowed 6 years ago married within 6 months, and I have to wonder what's wrong with me.
On another dating site, guys who labelled themselves "non-religious" or "new age" or "other religion" would contact me, although I had indicated in my profile that I was looking for a Christian. Gotta wonder if they ever read it. I'd ask if Jesus was Lord of their life, and that would solve the problem. I never heard from them again.
It's nice that on this site you receive contact only from those in your preferred age range. It was ridiculous getting messaged by guys who were half my age!
Music is a passion. I have played guitar for many years, and I still hope for someone to look beyond appearances and listen to my voice. Not as much time to sew as I would like, but I manage to squeeze it in at times. I have 2 older 35mm Minolta cameras, but they're apparently obsolete. I use a little Kodak EasyShare. There were many times after work each night when I curled up with my cats and a good book or wrote on my stories. Now I sit with Sunny in my bedroom or work on jewelry in my craft room. Only time I watch movies is at someone's house. My favorite place to camp is in North Carolina, and I have hiked to Macrae Peak on Grandfather Mountain. I try to get to the Highland Games at Stone Mountain each year, and I've been to the ones at Grandfather Mtn. several times. I have assisted at the Tartan Information tent many times, as well. I also enjoy reenactments, although I've been to only a few over the past 13 years because I have to work nights and weekends. It's fun cooking over a campfire, and I have tools and utensils to aid in the appearance of the 1860s. I have a left-handed bowling ball and both-footed bowling shoes(to make a joke). I'm right-handed in some things, like playing guitar. I'm sorry, but I'm just not interested in NASCAR and racing or basketball! I had cataract surgery in 2008. It was amazing.
The phrase regarding drinking-- "1 or 2 on occasion" -- actually means "rarely."
I don't usually talk about myself that much, so this is not very comfortable. I will say that I work hard, I do what I can to help others, and I give great massages(a friend at work pretends to fall asleep after I rub her back). Growing in God's service is important to me. I don't hear Him as well as others can, so I listen to the words they have for me in encouragement. Friends of mine have said that I'm gentle, that I stick around in tough times, and in the words of a past manager, "She's the one you want to put on the till because she rocks," so I reckon that means I'm dependable. A friend at church told me, "If ever I had a sister, I'd want her to be you." Another friend has told me, "You give the best hugs."
I've always liked folk music and bluegrass. Celtic and Greek music get my feet tapping. Sorry if you don't like bagpipes; I love them. The only styles I really can't stand are rap, hip-hop, and heavy metal. I have square-danced, and I love Greek dance(and Greek food!), and I would like to learn Scottish country dance and Highland dancing. Could someone please teach me how to waltz?
I have 1 cat. If I lived on a farm, I'd have dogs, too!
My first husband died after 10 years, and we never got to have any children. I'm in reasonably good health for my age, but I'm too old now.
I'm old-fashioned, so I'm not going to message a guy before he contacts me. Don't be afraid to message me; I'm not going to snap at you unless you get pushy. If my reply to a guy goes unanswered, I know he's not interested, and there have been some who stop cold, I reckon because they find someone else they like better. I enjoy writing poetry and fiction, and I hope someday to have something published. I use a cellphone. I'm poor, yes. I've been poor for some years. I earn enough to pay my bills, and I'm a thrifty Scots/Irish, so I know how to live within my means. I'm not looking for rich guys, just someone intelligent, kind, sensible, and a growing Christian(and there's a difference between intelligence and common sense; people need both). I'm looking for the husband God wants for me, because God deals with details.
Someone explained to me that drama is baggage from a divorce. I have widow drama--completely different. I've met guys with drama. They don't talk about it, but they treat women their age with contempt.
Guys, please don't put "follower of Christ" or something similar in the space for your occupation. We gals need to be assured that we won't have to be supporting you. If you're unemployed at this time, please tell the truth and say so. Saying, "follower of Christ," makes it appear that you don't have a job.
I answer the phones at work, so I hate using the phone unless I absolutely have to. I don't like talking much, but if you're going to tell the truth, get it all down. My father had a saying about people "running off at the mouth." Well, I tend to "run off at the fingers." I tend to talk with my hands, and I write a lot. I love letters. In other words, guys, please don't send me a message with "r u" for "are you" or something with a period after every other word. I've gotten some messages that consisted of four words, no punctuation, no capitals, and terrible spelling!
Last but not least, I hope you have read the entire profile and feel comfortable with it. I can get testy with guys who think I'm stupid. Oh, and one guy said I was too tough for him. Tough? I'm just trying to survive!
