I'm a pedigree mongrel (woof!), and I suspect that I'm UNfashionably unconventional...
Personality-wise, I tend to be quietly bubbly (no, that's not a contradiction in terms!), intensely loyal to friends, and a firm believer in deeds proving one's words. I don't make promises I don't expect to keep. I love the smell of new-mown grass, the touch of sunshine, the patterns and textures and colours of the world around me. I tend to dress casually, though excuses for ballgowns are great! and tend to get mistaken for being younger than I am. On the other hand, I was once asked in utter earnestness - at the ripe old age of 16 - whether my date of birth was 1904 or 1964! So perhaps my youthful appearance is merely a trick of others' eyes :-D
I tend to be shy in groups unless I'm actually serving some sort of function, am hopeless at simply "making conversation." My sense of humour tends to be quiet, gentle, and sometimes rather dry or wry with a strong streak of black: I notice and am amused by quirky things. I tend to listen more than talk, though of course with notable exceptions!
Adore red, loathe brown (except when it's soil or living bark of course!). Loathe bell peppers, but *adore* chocolate :-) (of the REAL variety, not the "mint/orange/raspberry/etc flavour" types!). Love cats and dogs :-), hate insects... Love tidiness, rarely achieve it... Wowed by God, loathe religiosity.
That should be enough to go on for now...

That's Cambridge, UK, *not* Massachusetts. I'm flattered by winks etc, but please, if you live on another continent, then *unless* you happen to have a supersonic jet at your disposal with which to come and visit, there truly is not much point in your contacting me. There is the small matter of a little pond called the Atlantic dividing us.

- First date? The conventional answer is meet somewhere public for a cup of tea (peppermint in my case, please!) and a glorious slice of chocolate fudge or carrot cake. Though actually, thinking about it... that wouldn't be a first "date" really, would it? That would just be first meeting. First DATE... ah, in that case possibilities multiply. Going to see a ballet/concert/play/museum? Impromptu taking-advantage-of-unexpected sunshine for a glorious picnic? Trying out sky-diving? What do you suggest? :waving:
PS. I've said above that I don't drink. What I mean by that is that on a handful of occasions during a year I might have a glass of wine to accompany a glorious meal and last me the evening. So not quite zero alcohol, just so little and so far between that "no" was the closest approximation
