- About Me
I am serious about my faith, and honoring God with my life comes first. My divorce was for biblical reasons, though still not a decision I took lightly. I believe very much in the sanctity of marriage.
I have two wonderful girls, and would want more kids if God would have that for my family. My girls want to adopt a baby brother -- and a puppy -- both as soon as possible! I don't believe they and I are at all on the same time-line for this goal, but I too would love to adopt someday.
In the meantime, I love my job, I have fabulous parents who I am blessed to live nearby and get along well with, and I get to see the ocean regularly! I've always lived on the Cape, so I don't know much else, but I don't take that gift for granted. I'm not just someone who says they likes the outdoors, but really just likes the idea of liking the outdoors. I will take a detour from the beach view or a 5-min walk on the beach in the middle of my work day. Other adventures need to be planned, which I try to get intentional about.
I am a driven and passionate person with a few too many ambitions. I've been blessed to have already experienced a good amount of travel at a young age -- some for leisure, some for missions trips and foreign studies. I'd love to see more of the world someday and I am always excited to work hard at any kind of project in the local community or abroad. I like to work with my hands, don't mind getting dirty in construction, and can be very artistic as well. I find most things interesting and especially love connecting with people and understanding their world and sharing in their lives. Many people have described me as genuine, friendly and easy to connect with.
I value staying healthy and active, but I'm not a 'gym rat' It's not an obsessive hobby for me, more of a developed discipline. I'm not into Beach Body or that CrossFit madness, if you know what I mean.
I founded and ran a small business in the salon industry for 12 years. While it was an insane amount of work, I LOVED it and did very well with it. I opened my fist location at 19, I expanded multiple times, ran multiple locations and achieved much acumen in the local community and industry recognition, but for a variety of reasons, I felt God was calling me out of that place in life, at least for a season. I liquidated my business and closed it's doors the summer of 2017 to free myself up for whatever was next. I wasn't at the time entirely sure what that was, but I knew first and foremost I needed to keep to a career that would be within mother's hours during this time in my daughters' lives.
I started a new career in October of 2017 that I love and feel so blessed to be able to devote more time to ministry in my church.
I am spoiled with a fantastic church family.
My family has been through an extremely tumultuous time the past few years with a lot of loss and grief, but God has always been faithful and I know He has good plans for us. I am excited for what the future holds and I love to tell the stories of God's faithfulness through trials
Ecl. 3:11 He has made all things beautiful in its time. Also he has put eternity into man's heart, yet so he cannot find out what God has done from beginning to end.
My favorite Bible passage and why:
That's hard, since 'all Scripture is God -breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking and training in righteousness'
God's word is powerful and life-changing and life-giving and we should be continually in it.
There are so many verses and larger passages that have become favorites during different seasons of my life, and if I don't have a current favorite I've been chewing on, convicted by, or finding comfort in, something's probably wrong and I hope you'll hold me accountable to that. So ask me what I'm currently mediating on and we can encourage each other.
- First Date
- Probably best to let a first date be just that--just a first date--an opportunity to get a glimsp of the other person, just enough to know if a second date is in order. I say this to remind myself not to take things to seriously! I consider myself to have a great sense of humor (especially the ability laugh at myself) but I can get ahead of myself with over-the-top intentionality at times. Love and respect and grace with ourselves and each other. We don't have to figure out if this is marriage material on date one, right? Let's be a blessing and encouragement to each other while we have some fun learning and exploring our potential connection. If our conversation is going well, let's meet sooner rather than later. I think we'll learn a lot that way and it's worthwhile, especially if good food is involved and a beautiful walk maybe... I look forward to meeting you.
