I live by grace. I want to love others with Christ�s love in all I do. After being a foreign missionary (in Mexico, Spain, and South America) teaching pastoral counseling in Spanish for 16 years I am now resettling in the US.
My friends would describe me as energetic, passionate and compassionate, fun, persevering, giving, adventurous, zany or quirky, loyal...I love mountains. I never stop feeling wonder and delight as I watch a firefly. But these and every other joy are so much richer when shared with someone!
I want to be able to "get behind" a husband and help him do what he does, better. I would enjoy being his "right hand man," his biggest fan, lover, best friend, confidante, one-flesh partner as we grow in Christ together. Someone with whom I can be playful and affectionate. Someone to whom I can bring joy by serving him and someone at whose side we can serve others together in some way, even if it is as simple as practicing hospitality. I love cooking and having people over.
I would love to be a stepmom/stepgrandmother. I would homeschool children if I could. I invest in people, my relationships are the most important part of my life. The Lord is first, then family, then everything else.
I have an academic side (love a good discussion) and an offbeat "march to the beat of a different drum" side (I slept in a hammock for 9 years, I had a pet squirrel...). Finding the humor in life is important to me, and I try not to take myself too seriously (I can laugh at myself when my Thanksgiving turkey catches fire). I am also very adventurous and active, I love trying new things and visiting new places. I eat healthy and exercise regularly. I am in good shape, so can enjoy being active.
I have realistic expectations about relationships. I don't expect perfection in anyone, but the willingness to talk out and work out differences as they arise.
I am not into fashion, I have my own "style" :)
FYI: My husband was unfaithful and divorced me in 1990. I was young and naive then. He left the Lord when he left me, saying he never actually believed.
I am debt-free and believe in living that way.
Theologically I am Reformed. If you don't know what that means, it probably doesn't matter :)
