APART FROM A CLEAR DEMONSTRATION THAT A PERSON IS MARRIED, WHAT IS THE REAL ESSENCE OF WEDDING RINGS? ANYTHING IN SCRIPTURE?

SHOULD THE COST, VALUE AND HOW GOOD THE WEDDING RING LOOKS, CAUSE ARGUEMENT AND OR DISAGREEMENT?

HOW MUCH WOULD YOU REALISTICALLY LIKE YOUR POTENTIAL HUSBAND TO SPEND ON YOUR WEDDING RING?

I have found two websites that will help you out with that question.

I also want to leave you with a story one of my grandparents once told me.

Back in the "olden days" when women didn't work and man was the sole provider the men would by a gold ring according to their wealth to give to his love on their wedding day as a token of his love and commitment to her. Since he was the sole provider....If he passed, the woman would sell or barter the ring in order to get by on her own for a few months or so.

I hope this helps.

the wedding rings are a tradition, however from a personal standpoint as i have purchased one in the past, its not how much you spend (i spend 1900$ on a princess cut solitare it was over a carat lol i know nothing about jewlry) but how much it looks like you spent, now if the girl honestly loves you with everything in her it dont matter if she got a ring or not.

I understand the sybolism of rings .. I think that women more than men place too much importance on how much it cost or how big a diamond engagement ring is.

I guess for me it would be the feeling of love behind the rings not the cost.

I did some research and found the following information . . . hmmmm, interesting:

"From secular history we learn that the ancient pagan Romans were probably responsible for beginning the use of engagement and wedding rings. Originally the ring was placed on the third finger of the left hand because of a superstitious belief that a vein from this finger runs directly to the heart. Although this superstitious idea is no longer believed by most people, wedding rings are still placed on the third finger of the left hand by the majority of wearers.

The roundness of the ring is said to represent eternity and to symbolize endless love and that the couple is forever united in the marriage bond. This is an un-Scriptural symbolism, for the Bible declares that marriage is only for as long as both of the marriage partners live physically (Romans 7:1-3)."

The actual tradition behind a wedding ring is the binding of one person to another. the cost doesnt really make a difference. The circle is metaphorical for "forever" or "neverending" its also put on the certain finger for a reason. There is a myth ( i dont know if it holds any truth) that the vein in that finger goes directly to the heart...im not sure if there is any scripture about the rings....
