Jesus Is Alive and Active

Hebrews 10:10-14

Jesus Is Alive and Active

Hebrews 10:10-14

Have you ever wondered what Jesus is doing, now that He has ascended to heaven? Our Scripture passage tells us that after offering Himself as a sacrifice for our sins, He sat down at the right hand of God. Verse 13 might lead us to believe He is simply sitting up there waiting for the time when He comes back to rule and reign on earth. But when we consider other passages, we soon realize He is quite active on our behalf.

First of all, even though the Son is with the Father in heaven, He is also residing within every believer in the person of the Holy Spirit, whom He sent to be in us and with us (John 15:26; Rom. 8:9-10). Christ is actively working within you to shape your character and empower your obedience.

Next, Jesus lives to intercede for those who believe in Him (Heb. 7:25). He makes requests on our behalf and brings our prayers before the Father.

Then, we see in 1 John 2:1-2 that Jesus is our Advocate when we sin. Positioned between us and holy God, Christ declares our righteous standing because of His sacrifice and our faith in Him.

Whats more, Christ is preparing a place for us in heaven (John 14:1-3). He is also arranging all the events necessary for His return.

Jesus is busy in heaven carrying out the Fathers will. And we, as His followers, should be doing the same thing. He saved us for the purpose of reflecting His life in our work, attitudes, words, and behavior. We are His bodyHis eyes, ears, voice, feet, and handspointing others to Him.

Acquiring Wisdom

Acquiring Wisdom

Proverb 4:20-27

The most obvious source of godly wisdom is the Bible. You cannot think of a question or life circumstance about which Gods Word is silent. His principles for right character, conduct, and conversation apply to every situation and decision confronting human beings.

Were all able to recall times when we didnt respond wisely. Those incidents can be traced back to one of two possibilitieseither we didnt know a certain biblical principle or we knew the principle that applied but chose to ignore or violate it. To ensure that we are familiar with Gods standards and the importance of following them, weve got to dig into His Word.

For example, suppose that you walk into the office and a coworker verbally assaults you with undeserved blame for a costly mistake. Your flesh and the world would have you respond in kind with anger and malice. But Luke 6:27-29 offers a different approach, that might go something like this: Is there anything else? Thank you for telling me how you feel (spoken gently).

Knowledge comes from learning biblical principles; wisdom has to do with applying them. The Lord cautions us to keep His Word in our heart and in our heads so that we will heed His instructions (Ps. 119:11; Prov. 8:33).

Wisdom is acquired as we pursue the Christian lifeabsorbing Scripture, doing what it says, and observing the result, which is for our good even when consequences appear less than favorable. Special classes arent required; God simply wants obedient hearts and a willing spirit.

Is He Marriage Material? Essential Qualities of a Christian Husband
Posted : 23 Mar, 2011 02:03 AM

Appearances mean a lot for people today. And sadly is the main reason for rising divorce statistics. Were so captivated by good looks, clothing and how it is worn, nice sounding words, and fancy cars that we completely sidestep character traits of a person. Sometimes we are so enthralled by the way someone looks, we dont seem to care if that person is honest, self-controlled, or considerate. But if we want to have a happy marriage we should get to know a person starting from the inside and then working ourselves out. What should we look for when pursuing husband material?

Good Relationship with Parents?

If a man has a good relationship with his parents then the general rule is he will have a good relationship with his wife. Childhood is an emotional growing experience and teaches us how to treat others, especially those we live with such as our parents. Childhood teaches us to obey and respect our parents, and it teaches us that we will not always get our way, and that sometimes we will have to give in for the sake of peace and harmony. All of these things are good character traits that are brought into marriage.

Therefore a man that is respectful, thoughtful and considerate of his mom and dad will also be that way with the woman he marries. If he respected his dads influence in him when he was living at home he is more apt to respect the authority of and direction of God leading his life when he is older. Which brings me to the next good quality to look for in a potential husband.

Good Relationship with God?

Understand that you will not know if a man has a good relationship with God by what you see or by what you hear him say. People can appear to be anything that you want, at least for a time, eventually true character does come out. Going to church, wearing a cross, or praying out loud does not necessarily signify that a man has a good relationship with God. These are all things that can be done for appearances sake. Wait and be patient. If a man has a good relationship with Christ you will see Godly qualities shine in his behavior.

These qualities manifest themselves in people who have the Spirit of Christ living within them. The Holy Spirit helps us become men and women of God through the fruit of the Spirit. Some of these wonderful qualities to look for in a husband are gentleness, goodness, meekness, temperance, self-control and Christ-based love.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such things there is no law. And they that are Christs have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another. Galatians 5:22-26
