I am an American who has lived and worked in Ukraine for over 4 years since 2015. I returned (July 2019) and will be here for a while. I have stayed in Ukraine since before the February 2022 invasion. I participated in the defense of Kyiv and have continued to advise the military and train soldiers.
I grew up Roman Catholic and much of my family is Catholic. I stopped attending church when I went into the Army. After my divorce in 2000 I became involved with Campus Crusade for Christ in university. In 2002 I accepted Christ as Lord and Savior and have been attending an evangelical, nondenominational church since then. Born again due to God's Grace for which I am immensely grateful. When I am in the US, I often volunteer with the technical team doing stage setup, camera operator, and video directing. It is a large church and therefore I am involved with a small group Bible Study for fellowship and study of the Word. In Kyiv I attend ICA, which is a mix of Ukrainians and expats. With services in English with Russian translation.
I believe it is important for a couple to have many shared interests. But it is more important that a couple have shared values. God has to be first, before each other. I believe that sex should only be between a husband and wife in marriage. I believe that a man has to be the leader of his family and to love his wife as the Lord loves the Church. Marriage is best when it is a partnership of love and respect with both working to build up the other. Forgiveness is an important part of relationships because none of us are perfect and will all fail at times.
I believe that the purpose of life is to learn to love God and each other better. By listening and responding to the urgings of the Holy Spirit we take steps toward this pure love that the Lord calls us to. It is important to maintain a personal relationship with Christ and to fellowship with other believers in order to keep walking in the right direction.
I am looking for someone who is optimistic and loves the Lord. Someone who is intelligent and can have conversations about many things including the Bible, her thoughts and feelings, politics, world events, history, etc.
I believe it is important for two people to be able to meet and get to know each other for a period of time before deciding to marry. Therefore, I will only seek a relationship with a woman near enough to regularly meet.
