I really believe in what C. S Lewis said about we were created for another better world, that's why things here somehow can not totally satisfy our desires deep down. I used to worship intellectuals but it seems to me they are quite frustrated themselves except those who seriously drop the guard and let go the strong foolish egos. I have to admit, it was the intellectual pursuit attracted me to Bible and it was the emotional needs took me in and now, I am fully convinced there's no other way. God led me to kids mission, big time. I didn't know what an extremely naive person to this world can serve anyone before it happened. Now I know I can serve many young minds and give them the right kind of food of thought.
As a typical city-dweller who have grown up in an era when everyone worshipped science and secular education, I used to look down at most physical activities, as if sports lovers must be slightly slow in mind? Now even in my classroom I have learned it was such a silly idea. We were created to combine body and mind and use them simultaneously. Kids tend to be the best teachers of us middle aged people who forgot some of the youth and slightly scared of the aging thing.
I love British humour. It is a mature sort of attitude to tolerate negative events and cope with it in a grownup's way. I try not to be influenced by overly worldly Christians who believe go big or go away, I also try not listen to tearjekers’ never ending painful descriptions of life. Because in fact, we all win a bit and lose a bit, not too much drama, we come and we go but hopefully no hard feelings because of our faith and our hope. I also like an American term - mellow, that when we have experienced a bunch of things in life, we tend to be milder, sweeter and somehow able to say more okey to little disappointments. Isn’t it us Christians' duty to be the salt and light in this world to clean up the disease and lighten up the darkness that being dramatized by poor media workers? In 7 long years, I had worked in commercial fields cooked so called fake news for PR firms before I took my belief seriously. That job threw a lot of intense and horrible stimulations to my brain, even my poor body. I mean the never-ending word games about products I would never want to purchase myself was an efficient way to take my appetite away. The over the top youth culture numbed my nerve that I could literally take any babytalk from grownups without blinking my eyes. The strict money talks rules helped me understand how greedy I could be as well. And the most wonderful thing is that through that era, I translated all the psychological books I love just to calm my nerve, and then I discovered only children and language training suits my very unique psychological needs.
Serve and love others a bit, and God will help you to receive the love 100 folds back. Maybe only the kids are mature enough to understand God's words thoroughly? Can a grownup born again? I think so.
