Originally born in the lands of Central Europe with a bit of Polish heritage in the blood line, I've been lucky and blessed enough to have lived in the US, Australia and South-East Asia throughout the last 20 years - so I can be a bit of a colorful bird when it comes to my origin or life's challenges and adventures.
However, with the last eleven years gone by rather quickly, it often feels just like yesterday that I had moved towards the equator, covering not only Australia, but furthermore Indonesia, the Philippines and Malaysia, in order to continue my education, expand my horizons and pursue my lifelong passion in aviation as a career. And boy, did it exceed my wildest expectations, as ultimately, that is where our Heavenly Father revealed Himself and His plans strongest to me, giving me courage, hope and endurance with the dawn of each new day, while gently reminding me who's yet in control.
But apart from the world of wings, I can easily get immersed in a long walk through cities, along the shoreline of beaches, or simply the closest of neighborhoods and additionally felt inspired to get involved in local communities through volunteering in church during my years in South-East Asia. Walk a mile in someone else's shoes and you'll see the world differently I believe. After all, it is the cultural diversity embraced in this journey that, once experienced, is shaping us the most.. along with its local cuisine of course. Who can resist the call of new savory flavors, right?!
To me, following Christ is not simply a label we apply, but a condition of the heart we wake up to. So what does it mean to really have faith?! Is it just showing up with many impressive words and a mere hope that our Father in Heaven will hear us, let alone answer our prayer of urgency, or is it rather that deep trust in knowing that, YES, He exists, just as the air around me, and therefore He CAN see me and WILL hear me. While it all may start with hope, it is so much more. For if you believe in your heart without a doubt that it is yours, you shall receive it.
Imagine that every morning, as we step out of our beds, we do not think for a second to question whether gravity will catch us today as we lift up our feet, but rather, with such confidence and unfailing trust in it, our actions speak louder than words by simply TAKING that leap, without the need to ever worry or wonder any given day. Technically, as we arise, we don't KNOW that it would still be there, but our confidence is far greater than our hopes or knowledge, as we witness gravity's effect every single day without being able to see or touch it. It is simply putting our trust in the unseen with relentless faith. Now, THAT is what faith in our Heavenly Father through Jesus is like for me when we approach Him in prayer with all humility. We have to first believe with that same unshakable faith that He is real before we can open a line of honest conversation. For believing through faith pleases the Father. Never is it through intellect or what can be observed through our limited flesh alone. When I understood that, my walk with Him had changed forever and my trust had become as strong as gravity itself.
In the end, the most powerful question in this journey that I ask myself daily is "do I worship a religious tradition or pursue truth?" - because the truth shall set you free. John 5:39-44 resonates very strongly for that reason - Jesus did not come for religion, He came for truth, grace and eternal life.
With all that in mind, I genuinely believe that happiness comes from within ourselves, which is best expressed and shared together as one body of Christ, originating from a place of constant growth, inspiration and plenty of heartfelt laughter!
