If you were to ask my friends to describe me, they'd probably tell you that I have the feet of a Hobbit, the fashion sense of a Midwestern dad, and the mind of a jellyfish.
When I'm not thinking about cringe things I did as a kid, I'm a teacher, a sometimes coach, a part-time writer, and a full-time winner (I won like five participation trophies as a kid
).
- First Date
- Picture it: we two sit at a finely furnished table in a restaurant occupied only by waiters, eagerly watching our love blossom from spark into flame. Occasionally, they blink back tears at our witty banter, wishing that they could have just an ounce of our chemistry in their own lives. Now stop picturing that.
Because we're not at that restaurant. We sit in a rundown booth at a McDonald's adjoined to a rural rest stop. Outside the dim, dusty windows is the occasional cry of a hungry lion craving a Limited Edition Cheeto McFlurry. A lion, you ask? That's right. We're in Africa on safari, and we have just spent the last three days trekking through the wild savannah alone after our tour guide was kidnapped by a zebra he owed money to.
A safari, you ask? Am I made of money? No, dear reader. But I am made of determination, and I have two young arms and friends with kayaks. If you want to go to Africa for our first date, who am I to deny you?
Or we could just, like, go to a movie or something. It's your call.
