Posted : 22 Jun, 2011 08:42 AM One of my favorite "day trip" memories was when my family took a trip on a passenger train from Mansfield down to Columbus, Ohio, and back, just to enjoy the ride and see the sights along the way ... and be ON A TRAIN!!! :dancingp::dancingp::dancingp::yay::yay::yay::applause::applause::applause: This was when I was 14 or 15, if I remember right, before I became physically-challenged because of "young people's arthritis" at the age of 16 in 1963. Another of my favorite "day trip" memories is going to Disney World in Orlando, Florida one day with other family members as I was spending some time visiting with them at their vacation home in Dunedin, Florida, a photo of which you'll find among my profile photos!!! :dancingp::dancingp::dancingp::hearts::hearts::hearts: Love, Steve Post Reply

Posted : 23 Jun, 2011 09:18 PM My most favorite day trip, which turned into an overnight stay, was to a small touristy mountainous village in the Henan Province of China called Houzhai. I went with my best Chinese friend (who hardly speaks any English) and two of my students. We went down the mountain and rode on these really cool boats that were really just several bamboo sticks tied together, and rowed (or attempted to) our way up and down the river. My friend was so worried about falling in the river that she accidentally pushed the boat away as I was jumping to "shore" and completely fell in! As we were walking back up the mountain we found a small waterfall/swimming area and had a huge water fight, though it was hard to tell who had won because I was still wet from falling in the river before.
