Do you condsider E-Cigarettes

Hi,

I have been an a non smoker for a couple years till about last week. I was stressed out and bought the Electronic Cigarette. It doesn't have tar or thousands of chemicals and doesn't smell at all. Would you still consider this person a smoker or even consider dating a christian guy who smokes electronic cigarettes? Thanks for all your input.

Cheers,

Carl

Interesting question!

I think I could get along fine with e-cigarette use. Nicotine is certainly a dangerous substance, but so is the second piece of pumpkin pie a la mode.

Hey, maybe this device will just help you transition back to non-smoker status. Best wishes for success!

Carl,

A couple of questions to consider.

What kind of witness are you to others by smoking at all?

Why do something in your flesh when the answer to your "stress" is a spiritual one?

It is in times of stress, trials and tribulations where our Faith in Christ must shine to an unbelieving world. We must show that our comfort and stress reliever does not come from something of man, but only from God in our relationship with Him through Christ Jesus! :)

Blessings!

Walter

Well you think about it. You used to smoke so that's a curse that you have to deal with until you get rid of it completely. If you have to use an E Cig for a crutch do it. At least your trying to better yourself. If someone comes along and is going to be that judgmental. Then in my opinion that not worth your time or efforts, even if their just friends.

Hello Saved,

I was a smoker. I think I can speak with some credence about nicotine.

The reason you smoked -- the reason Anyone smokes -- is because of nicotine. Nicotine is more addictive than heroin. And your brain over time needs more and more to accomplish the same results. So you end up with an addiction that Grows and GRows and GROWS BIGGER!

True, you could attempt to justify using E- Cigarettes by saying you are saving your lungs and intaking less carcinagens. but consider this:

* You are still intaking Nicotine (which somehow makes it's way pass the brain's Blood Barrier into the brain "attaching" itself to receptors on your neurons) Boy, where's ILIKEUALOT when you really need him.

* You have no idea what form the nicotine is in and what method of "carrying" it to the brain is being used? Two methods are --

ETHYLENE GLYCOL and PROPYLENE GLYCOL

Ethylene glycol, is commonly used in acrylic paints, brake fluid, antifreeze, tile grout, primer, sealant paste, floor polish, tire sealant and shoe polish. Oh yes.......and it's also used in some "smoothing lotions" and "firming moisturizer" and now E-Cigarettes!

Known health effects: throat irritation, headache, backache, kidney problems, oedema (swelling), necrosis (cell death). If swallowed, can cause drowsiness, and slurred speech, possibly stupor, vomiting, respiratory failure, coma, convulsions, and death

Propylene Glycol

A cosmetic form of mineral oil found in automatic brake and hydraulic fluid and industrial antifreeze. In the skin and hair, propylene glycol works as a humescent, which causes retention of moisture content of skin or cosmetic products by preventing the escape of moisture or water. The Material Safety Data Sheet warns users to avoid skin contact with propylene glycol as this strong skin irritant can cause liver abnormalities and kidney damage.

Saved, there are no long term studies as to what the effects are of using these chemicals in the large doses you would be taking daily -- HOURLY!

* The method of vaporizing the nicotine is subject to fluctuation. You can be slowly increasing the amount you are inhaling unknowingly (that's great for the manufactors) leading to a stronger addiction.

* Look at the results of "smokeless" tobacco (chewing, snuff). Mouth cancer is one of them.

I mean these are just some of the reasons I can think of right now. There are probably many more reasons you should keep your body, mind and soul free of Addictions. One is that if you want to be a slave -- be a slave to Christ -- not to man.

Peace

Would I conider that person a smoker?

Yes, I would. Since they turned to smoking as a stress reliever.

Would I date a Christian man who smoked?

No. Since I believe it is a bad witness to people to smoke and call yourself a Christian, also.

Addictions are hard to overcome. We ALL have bad habits that crop up and we have to fight. So I am not judging you at all --- just answerin' your questions.

Hope that helps!

ok. I am not sure what an E-Cigarette is at all. It sounded similar to an e-mail. I was trying to figure out how the computer helped you smoke. Secondly, as a personal choice I would not date someone who smoked, although it is not for the reasons I have read on here. I personally don't like the smell of cigarettes and they give me a headache. I also don't like the way it makes the smoker smell. It stinks up your car, your house, your clothes, and your breath. I don't like kissing a smoker, even if the person does not smoke around me it will stay in your mouth. Its rather metallic and gross. These are the reasons I would not date a smoker. Now, as far as biblical answers, The verse that talks about your body being a temple of the holy spirit comes to mind. For me, I try to ask myself would I be comfortable doing this at church. If not then it is probably something I should avoid. I also think that smoking is a personal choice. I don't think you are a bad person if you choose to and I don't think that Christianity will come to a standstill if you choose to smoke. I don't think it will harm your testimony or cause your church congregation to gasp and make the old people fall out of the pew. Judging is reserved for God and God alone and I think some people need to take the log out of their own eye before they try to remove a speck from yours. Nobody is perfect. That is why we needed Jesus to come as a living sacrifice for our sins. My mom has struggled with smoking since she was 15. She said she used it as a coping mechanism even though she said it was a bad one. My coping mechanism would be chocolate or gum. Either basically work for me but that is what I have to work on. Good luck on your journey!

Hey Carl -

My neighborone of those and well it's only smoke powered by water or whatever so I don't see how it is even considered smoking.

MORE importantly PRAISE Jesus that you went for that NON-NICOTINE implement INSTEAD of POT or POWDER ( u know what I mean) or LIQUOR or SEX with a stranger (hey a lot of peeps turn to sex when stressed).

When I get stressed I try to turn to the Bible but, depending on where u r that's not always possible. I ALWAYS ask God what to do but I also sometimes find myself lighting up when asking -

Carl - YOU R HUMAN:devil: we all fault and we all fall back and God understands these things and HE loves u REGARDLESS of what u r smoking!!!!!!!!

Hugz & Blessings,

Wen
