Warning Will Robinson! Warning!
Posted : 5 Dec, 2009 02:26 AM

There has been several attempts by some party or parties on this site to get my e-mail address. One attempted to download a Trojan Horse and another an Auto-mated E-bot.

I detected both before any damage was done. You all need to be wary of anyone asking for your e-mail address. Be very, very, sure of whom you are talking to.

These worms and E-bots can steal and relay vital information of your's to anyone or anywhere on the internet.

Peace

PS Unless it's me asking

Thanks for the warning Archimedes. I would like to know how you detected this before any harm was done. I know just a little of computers and how to protect my information so, any information you could share may be helpful to me. What is the best plan some one can have to protect there information online? I had a Mcafee but it did not stop the virus my computer got in July of 2009. We all take that blind leap of taking a chance to get to know some one. That is hard to detect who your really talking to and determine who is trustworthy of your email address. It really is hard for a person to buy the software that you think is helpful and your told that it cant stop every virus. I am a single parent that is on a budget the software can be expensive every year when your not prepared that it may not do what it is suppose to do. If this information is not true then I bought my computer at the wrong helpful company.

Viruses, Spybots -- Worms -- Trojan Horses...Oh MY!

It is a mess online and a battleground. Here is one site where you will get some good info.

http://www.webopedia.com/DidYouKnow/Internet/2004/virus.asp

Also there are free Anti-viruses and Adware/Spyware Programs. Just type in Free downloadable Anti-Virus software on your search engine.

Simply keep you operating system up to date and any Antivirus up with the latest list of known viruses and your own OS's firewall and you will minimize exposure. Also, log off the internet when not using it.

Most IMPORTANTLY....do not open anything that has a file attached from someone you do not know. Even opening up an e-mail can activate a E-bot (robotic program that embeds it's self in root memory and replicates or runs programs at start-up)

Dear Given and every one else here is another good source of info on really good free antivirus and spyware programs with (links to the ones you want to download) that I've been using for sometime now and nearly zero problems, give it a look!

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/771528

it's a safe site and again a great I promise...

I also suggest reading through the forums there called "Windows virus and Spyware problems" (which is the same page as this link) as it has lots of help from techy guys helping out people with virus problems and you can many times resolve yer own issues or ask for help by posting there. Good luck!...Jim
