Posted : 4 Apr, 2011 11:27 AM This one is not about what you believe and what standards that you hold a future mate to, but what looks and personality standards you have for a relationship. I know every person is different and everyone has different things that appeal to them even if they don't admit it. I also would venture to say that just because your not picky about physical traits that you can still be considered shallow based on being extra picky with personality. The question is where do you draw the line between settling, compromise, being shallow, or expecting too much? So.. Where is the balance between the physical and personality as well as not compromising, but not expecting too much? I am also posting this on the Guys side. Post Reply

I must be physically attracted to the guy, but I have a pretty wide range of what I find attractive. There are very few physical traits that are a turn off for me. Also, I find that a guy's appearance can grow on me after awhile, so I try to not immediately discount a guy because I don't find him handsome initially. Spiritually is where I'm most picky. The guy pretty much must believe exactly as I do on nearly every theological issue... and not just the intellectual aspects of it all, but the practical side of all of it. We must have a shared sense of purpose and direction and agree upon how decisions are made. Personality-wise... I'm somewhat open, but I definitely need to feel a connection there. I prefer someone with a similar personality type to my own, but not completely the same. I'm looking for someone who is stronger and more assertive than I am, because I need someone to balance me out... Iron sharpens iron and all that. He must be a servant leader. Those are my must haves. There are several other things that would be nice, but I like surprises =) Sometimes, I get such silly ideas in my head of what I want, and then I actually like what I get better than what I thought I wanted (not just with people, but everything). If he's willing to listen to Mars Hill sermons with me and discuss those, he gets major brownie points =) I think that we do well to only have a few must haves... We need to know what's really important -- deal-breaker stuff. But, we don't want to be so picky that no one could possibly meet out criteria. Post Reply
View Profile History	Standards too high? Posted : 5 Apr, 2011 08:24 AM Good question. As far as looks go, yes, I do have a particular type of guy that I tend to like more. Dark haired or bald headed guys, and guys that are more rugged looking. Does that mean I'm only going to be attracted to these guys, nope. Quite frequently, I'm attracted to guys who are not my "type". It's little the little things about a guy that will attract me. As for personality, there are two things that annoy me more than anything else: a guy who talks constantly and does not allow anyone else to speak and a guy who does not speak at all, but forces me to do all the talking. Things about a guy that draws me are his passion (as in what he focuses on), and how he treats others. Post Reply

Posted : 5 Apr, 2011 09:07 AM Physically, I tend to be attracted to men with traits I don't have such as, tall, non dark colored eyes, awesome technical skill (I'm reallly dumb in such thing), etc. But for me physical issues are not really important, I have been attracted to males who weren't my type just bcoz they had awesome spirit and personality, they really made me melt! Lol I'm really attracted to men who are so spiritual but not the ones who "preach it only" yet not seem not invest anything on the things they preach. I'm always into men who have strong personalities and not afraid to show the world who they are, esp in Christ! A man who is grounded in the Bible has it all.. Christ inside him would glow and make him physically super attractive and perfect his personalities! Post Reply
