" ...the conversion of a sinner being not owing to a man's self determination, but to God's determination, and eternal election, which is absolute, and depending on the sovereign Will of God, and not on the free will of man; as is evident from what has been said : and it being very evident from the Scriptures, that the eternal election of saints to the faith and holiness, is also an election of them to eternal salvation; hence their appointment to salvation must also be absolute, and not depending on their contingent, self-determining Will."

Jonathan Edwards

Amen to all that! If my salvation were left up to me, in my fallen condition, I would be TOAST!

I am thankful to be secure in Christ. Arminians love their supposed "free will", but I hate my awful will, and love God's mercy instead.

In Christ,

James

Hey ErectedsorryElected,

If God elected you before you were bornto go to Heaven and somehow ForcedsorryCaused you to Turn to Himdespite the fact that you guys were depraved but are now saved and assured of never losing your salvation and all thatwhy are you still sinning?

I mean James says his will still sucks (paraphrasing). Whats up with that?

Come to think of itif God has you going to Heaven before you are even bornthen why did God have to Torture and Crucify His Only Son so that you can go to Heaven? That really Boggles my Mind!

I mean it gets confusingGod selects you for Heaven before you are born. You are born without sin sinless (no Original Sin). You have no Free Will (except when it comes to sinning) and everything that happens to you happens because God wants it to.

You are assured of going to Heavenno matter how many people you kill (because you have a sinful nature James said so) and God somehow ForcessorryCauses you to turn to Him and then Boomyou are savedwhich I thought you were already Before you were born andwhere was I?

"The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, NOT WILLING that ANY should perish, but that ALL should come to repentance." 2Peter3:9

"He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. Blessed are they THAT DO His commandments, that they may have RIGHT to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city." Revelation 22:11&14

"For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints." 1Corinthians 14:33.

You people really love your "free will" wich by the way does not appear in scripture(check for yourself......from what I see we have very little choices in life.Did you choose your parents, what country you were born in,what century, what race or your genetic makeup,......no this free will is a favorite of man,but its just not real!Did Moses choose to float down the river in a basket? He argued with God(and lost)about leading the people out of Isreal.Paul was a murderer of Christians until God knocked him off his horse and blinded him.He couldnt see until God let the scales fall from his eyes,Christ told His disciples, remember you did not choose me,but I have chosen you.......This world was created to display Gods Glory PERIOD.Man gets none!So that is the answer to your question arch...to display his Glory Eternally...We still sin because we are not yet perfected in Christ,we learn from our failures, these also bring us humility and wisdom, and teach us of our great need for God.

In Christ

Well Steve it is as the man said, you remove all doubt when you open your mouth, since you have no ability to choose who turned you away from the lord to Calvin, The question should be what does

Calvin have to offer a Christian. You must not realize how much your response proves the question of the will.

and pj every time you open your mouth I think I might have to get an interpreter, because all that comes out is an incoherent, disjointed, mish mash of illogical, out of context,Albert finney-isms.Quit following Finney and read the scriptures as they were written.:nahnah:

Yes Steve and Jesus do that continually, and then you hear him say what about Enoch, and they laughed, point well made.

It is not a debate it is life and his name is Jesus, and even though J follows C in the alphabet, every name is subject to the name of Jesus.
