Instead of the word faith,i will rather be using the word
'FAITHING'.
Faithing and trusting are the same, though some may not think they are.
Faithing is a verb tense of the word faith, for are we not FAITHING into Yeshua.
Faith has a person to be moving towards.
People are called to move from UNBELIEF in the Gospel to be believing in OR Faithing into the Gospel of Yeshua.
Mar 1:14 And after John was delivered up, Jesus came into Galilee proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom of God,
Mar 1:15 and saying, The time has been fulfilled, and the kingdom of God draws near. Repent and believe in the gospel.
Here is a simple story about FAITHING.
A man is on the platform of Niagra Falls.
He has a Titanium cable strechted across the entire length of the falls.
The man anounces that he will now walk acroos Niagara Falls while pushing a wheelbarrow.
The man crosses the falls and the gathered crowd applauds loudly.
The man does this a number of times all to the applause of the crowd, which has been increasing each time he crosses the falls.
Now the man turns to the crowd and asks 'Does anyone believe that i can cross the Niagara Falls while pushing a wheelbarrow.
The entire crowd yells YES; we believe you are able to do as you say.
Next the man says:
Since you believe i can walk across the falls pushing a wheelbarrow.
Is there anyone which believes that i can walk across the Niagara Falls pushing this wheelbarrow with a person inside the wheelbarrow.
The entire crowd started yell at the top of their voices,YES! we believe you are able to walk across Niagara Falls pushing the wheelbarrow with a person inside the barrow.
The man then asks:
WHich of you in the crowd is willing to TRUST me to taken them to the other side of the Falls..
The man with the wheelbarrow is YESHUA.
The wheelbarrow is the Gospel.
The Titanium cable is the Grace of YHWH.
The person is anyone which says they are TRUSTING / Faithing into Yeshua.
The entire lenght and bottom of the falls is the Judgement of YHWH against their sin(s).
The question is this.
When will people begin stepping into the wheelbarrow?
Well, in answering this I would point to two things in Scripture:
1. John 3:16 "whosoever believes in Him"
The Greek word translated as believe, is Pistuo.
It means a reliant trust. You are relying ON someone.
You are TRUSTING IN Jesus.
2. The Apostle Paul spends half of Romans teaching a course on HOW a person is made right with God.
He ends his lecture on HOW we are saved in Romans 5:1 by saying:
"Therefore, we are justified by FAITH.
And when you start out reading Romans, and you see Paul teaching that anyone who was ever saved in the Old Testament was also saved by FAITH, it again means a reliant TRUST IN the Messiah.
So, the Biblical definition of faith includes mental assent, meaning you mentally believe something, like Jesus dying on the cross, etc.
The Demons know this to be true, and they are scared because of it, but they are not saved.
So, The Biblical definition of faith, means yes we believe that Jesus is the Messiah, but ALSO that we are TRUSTING IN HIM and RELYING ON HIM, to have paid for our sins, and because of that we ARE saved and right with God.
For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconiled, we shall be saved by His life.
Romans 5:10
When I turn to God and by belief accept what God reveals, the miraculous atonement by the Cross of Christ instanly places me into a right relationship with God. And as a result of the supernatural miracle of God's grace, I stand justified, Not Just because I am sorry for my sin, and Just because I have repented, but because of what Jesus has done.
