Question to all on Christ about free will...
Posted : 6 Aug, 2012 09:54 AM

I have been reading a few topics in the forum regarding the debates and am wondering where you stand.

Do you believe that God is sovereign that He does all things and you just do it whether you know it or not, or do you have a choice in the matter?

I'm just looking to see what your thoughts on the matter is.

Thanks for your responses in advance.

Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Romans 8:20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,

Romans 9:18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.

Romans 9:19 Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?

the only 2 verses where the "will of man" is ever stated,"free will" is NEVER stated!....

John 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

2 Peter 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

and both statements conclude that whats being said is the WILL OF GOD(Holly Spirit)

thanks, brother Mike. so you believe that you have no choice and are just doing what the Lord wills you to do? Am a correct to assume that you believe that you(or we) have no capabilities of thought because the Lord is in control of us believers as well as the non-believers then?

if not, then I am sorry for the assumption, but could you be so kind to explain your position, please?

Thanks, brother.

Yes we believe the examples in the word of God that continual reveal man's responsibility to scripture.

The greatest example of the freedom of man's will is those that repeatedly proclaim they have none, lol.

Pj's lack of understanding of this subject would be laughable if he were not sinning in his insistence upon attempting to stir up dissension and quarreling.

pj, if you are truly a Christian, I would encourage you to actually search the Word on this subject rather than just regurgitating what you've already heard. You have been lied to about what reformed theology believes, and you need to repent of spreading the lies that you have been told.

if I point you ro God then whom do I represent? If I give you my words then whom do I represent? It doesn't matter in the least what I think! Most of it is vain and carnal! What matters is what God is DOING!

ok children, settle down. it was a simple question that had nothing to do with reformation theology or any other for that matter. I am trying to figure out what you guys think here.

Pj, the question is also asked to you, brother. please be civil and answer it.

Sister Donna, can we please stop with the insinuation of whether one is in Christ, please?

just answer the questions.

Brother Mike, thanks for the verses, but had I asked for verses, I would have stated thus. Besides, I am neutral on the matter for the sake of the topic, because we can all post a few that go either way. for example: Jesus also said that the kingdom of God is like a a king that goes to battle and plans for a fight which implies him weighing the cost beforehand. and by context, we could see Paul telling the Philipians to obey and to have a mindset like Christ by giving up certain ideals in the verse preceding verse 13.

So the questions still remain unanswered.

Can we get past the theological stuff and try to comment without separating our biases for a few seconds, brethren?

once again, thanks in advance for your responses.
