Choose whom you will serve...

Joshua 24:15And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

***** here it was a clear CHOICE for Israelites to make...serve God or serve the gods...

Numbers 21:8And the Lord said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.

9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.

***** an example of Christ in the OT which Jesus referred to in the NT. the Israelites disobeyed God, God sent poisonous serpents to punish them. The only way for them to live was to CHOOSE to look at the fiery serpent lifted up on the pole. The serpent was there for ALL of them, but if they did not have the faith that God would save them when they looked upon it and CHOSE not to look, they DIED.

John 3:14And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

"The rest of the chosen sinned and reaped what they sowed and died in the desert. "

Chosen? Who are the chosen? Did they choose to be chosen by choosing faith?

or

Did you mean to say The rest of the CHOOSERS sinned and reaped what they sowed and died in the desert.

The chosen to the believer is mankind.

The chosen to the interpreter is whoever the choose.

Ok PJ...

Let's run with your answer ...

"The rest of mankind sinned and reaped what they sowed and died in the desert.

So, all of mankind was in the desert? All of mankind left Egypt with Moses? Is that right?

You said that is what a believer says: chosen is mankind.

First things first Bob, Phillip did not say the father did, the believers just agree with him.

we all make choices every day teach. Choice is from a changed heart or a heart of stone. Humanist believe they can choose God, when he clearly states in his word we are all dead in our trespasses and sin till he changes us. Dead people can choose nothing.

Ezekiel36: 26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.

28 You shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers, and you shall be my people, and I will be your God.

Nothing i do is my old nature, it is now only because God set his love upon me and gave me a new heart can i call out to him Abba Father my Father.

I can not boast, i had no other choice to call out to him for mercy on my wretched soul, because he first loved me and sent his only begotten son to die for my sin past present future.

Your view of God is warped if you think for one moment you chose him first. You did nothing in you physical birth, just as you have done nothing in your spiritual birth.

To God be the glory alone he is a jealous God and will not share his glory with any other.

Choose whom you will serve...

*** I choose Jesus...from the begining of Genesis all the way through to Revelations...He is the Focus...

Romans 5:7-9 (KJV)

7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

*** Thank and Praise you  LORD Jesus...xo

Mark 2:17When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Luke 7:50And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace

Luke 13:1 There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.

2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?

3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?

5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Luke 18:42And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.

Luke 19:10For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

John 10:9I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

Acts 16:30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

Acts 2:21And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Yes we are saved by faith. I'm not sure how these verses add to the discussion though. This is about who chooses correct? It would help if your verses were more on topic(Example John 1:13)

All of the verses indicate CHOICE...do I repent or not? Do I call on His name or not? Do I believe in His saving grace or not? Will I accept His free gift of salvation that He stands holding out to me or do I reject it?

Acts 16:30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

The jailer Paul and Silas asked how to be saved. The answer is very clear...it didn't just happen. The jailer had to choose to BELIEVE to be saved.

None of the verses you posted says man has the ability to choose God. That is a bit of a reach. The one I gave however more than just indicates that it is not an act of man's will.
