One cannot believe in Jesus/Yahusha [the New Covenant] unless they believe in G-d [Elohim and the Torah of Old Covenant].

"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in G-d [Elohim of 'the Old Covenant')], believe also in me [The Messiah and New Covenant of Israel]." [Yohanan/John 14:1]
There are a lot of false teachings running around under the guise of Torah [Word].
First of all, the Torah [the Word comprised of both the New as well as the Old Testament] is very clear, that the New Testament cannot be obeyed, nor believed upon, unless one is enabled to by the Father.
In fact, if you are not obeying the Torah fully, meaning both Covenants, you are not obeying it at all..
"But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." [Mattityahu/Matthew 4:4]
What Jesus/Yahusha is referring to by this comment, is that "one may not think to believe upon the New Testament and not the Old":
"Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed." [Ma'asey/Acts 3:25]
These passages and many others prove that Christian doctrines, as well as Judaic, are not biblical. There is no basis for Judaism to exist, apart from the New Covenant, as there is no basis for Christianity to exist, apart from the Old Covenant.
Just as it takes comprehending the proportion known as UP to comprehend the proportion known as DOWN, so it requires having been YOUNG to comprehend what getting OLD means. You cannot comprehend the New Covenant without comprehending the Old Covenant.
Jesus/Yahusha is the Bread of Life, and the basis of all doctrines in the New Testament, but this cannot be comprehended, nor obeyed, without comprehending and obeying the Old Covenant, first.
This is why Jesus/Yahusha said, "MAN DOES NOT LIVE BY MY TEACHINGS ALONE [Bread Alone], BUT BY EVERY WORD WHICH PROCEEDS FROM THE MOUTH OF G-D [Elohim]":
Neither pray I for these [ha bachiyr, or "anointed ones" of the Old Covenant period] alone, but for them also [the eklektos, or "called-out ones" of the New Covenant period] which shall believe on me through their word; That they all [bachiyr and eklektos] may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. [Jesus/Yahusha, Yohanan/John 17:20]
As the Father is the basis of the Old Covenant, so the Son is the basis of the New Covenant, with neither being believed, without believing both.
This is why the Spirit of Elohim is referred to in the Old Covenant as "Ruach Ha-Kodesh" or "Spirit that is Holy", whereas in the New Covenant, He is referred to as "Holy Spirit". This is also why the Old Covenant was written and read from RIGHT to the LEFT, and the New Covenant was written to be read from LEFT to RIGHT.
You must have contrast to comprehend!
As Judaism, and the law, was lifeless apart from grace, enabling grace, so Christianity is lawless without the Old Covenant, and its writings..
One may not merely "receive the Son" without a basis of law, or G-d the Father having established the means to permit it.
Notice, please, what the scripture states of how that salvation begins with the Father, and that if one does not pass through the Father's electing grace, he/she may never come to the Son:
1) NO ONE CAN COME TO ME [Jesus/Yahusha] EXCEPT THE FATHER WHICH HATH SENT ME DRAW HIM, AND I WILL RAISE HIM UP AT THE LAST DAY" [Yohanan/John 6:44]
2) IT IS WRITTEN IN THE PROPHETS, AND THEY SHALL ALL BE TAUGHT OF G-D [Elohim], THEREFORE, EVERY MEN THEREFORE THAT HATH HEARD [his soul called from eternity (Yirmiyahu/Jeremiah 31:3, 1:5; Romi'im/Romans 8:29-30; Yohanan/John 6:37, 39)] AND LEARNED OF THE FATHER COMETH UNTO ME.
Verse 44 of Yohanan/John 6 teaches the common error that is made when such comments are made from the "pulpits of error".
A man/woman may only come to Jesus/Yahusha, if the Father chose and predestined him/her to, which is why the Old Testament is needed to comprehend. It is the basis of salvation to all, not just the Gentiles but the Jews..
If one was not chosen and predestined, there is no means of atonement!:
"And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;" [Yohanan/John Hhazon/Revelation 5:9]
One cannot believe in Jesus/Yahusha [the New Covenant] unless they believe in G-d [Elohim and the Torah of Old Covenant].

Matt 16-
6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.
8 Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?
9 Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
10 Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
