The Attributes of God~~~~The Patience of GodPosted : 20 Dec, 2012 02:12 AMFar Less Has Been Written on the patience of God than on the other excellencies of divine character. Not a few of those who have expatiated at length upon the divine attributes have passed over the patience of God without any comment. It is not easy to suggest a reason for this, for surely the longsuffering of God is as much one of the divine perfections as is His wisdom, power, or holinessas much to be admired and revered by us. True, the actual term will not be found in a concordance so frequently as the others, but the glory of this grace shines on almost every page of Scripture. Certainly we lose much if we do not frequently meditate upon the patience of God and earnestly pray that our hearts and ways may be more completely conformed thereto. |

The Attributes of God~~~~The Patience of GodPosted : 23 Dec, 2012 06:09 PMAll of these cliche arguments have been defeated over and over again and you can see this with a simple google search. For instance, check out James White on the verse you are using here. |

The Attributes of God~~~~The Patience of GodPosted : 23 Dec, 2012 07:24 PMI'm forcing you to step outside of the cliche responses and to study. If you had done this in the past....since you understand the Calvinist view so well(by your own admission) you would have already known the answer to the verse you posted. Furthermore, you would have not posted the verse because it does not teach what you think it does. |

The Attributes of God~~~~The Patience of GodPosted : 23 Dec, 2012 09:32 PMI'm just playing your game. There is nothing to dodge because you haven't asked anything of substance. You're asking if James White's take on the verse is too complicated to post. It's a silly question. The reason I didn't answer to begin with is because you have remained adamant that you understand Calvinism and yet over and over you post cliche arguments that have been refuted over and over again and can easily be viewed online. The fact that you don't realize this makes my point that you indeed do not understand the opposition. Another area of concern is that you like to imply that if something is complicated then it must be wrong. This is exactly why we have so many people barely scratching the surface of scripture. They have their belief systems and don't care to dig deeper to actually understand. You have made the argument that taking scripture at face value is the best route. Of course this leads to obvious problems in interpretations. Scripture is to be understood, not just read. |
