Matthew 14:14
When He went ashore, He saw a large crowd, and felt compassion for them and healed their sick.
Mat 14:15
When it was evening, the disciples came to Him and said, �This place is desolate and the hour is already late; so send the crowds away, that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves.�
Mat 14:16
But Jesus said to them, �They do not need to go away; you give them something to eat!�
Mat 14:17
They *said to Him, �We have here only five loaves and two fish.�
Mat 14:18
And He said, �Bring them here to Me.�
Mat 14:19
Ordering the people to sit down on the grass, He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up toward heaven, He blessed the food, and breaking the loaves He gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds,

and they all ate and were satisfied. They picked up what was left over of the broken pieces, twelve full baskets.

There were about five thousand men who ate, besides women and children.

Immediately He made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of Him to the other side, while He sent the crowds away.

After He had sent the crowds away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray; and when it was evening, He was there alone.

But the boat was already a long distance from the land, battered by the waves; for the wind was contrary.

And in the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea.

When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, �It is a ghost!� And they cried out in fear.

But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, �Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.�

Peter said to Him, �Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.�

And He said, �Come!� And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus.

But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, �Lord, save me!�
Mat 14:31
Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and *said to him, �You of little faith, why did you doubt?�
Mat 14:32
When they got into the boat, the wind stopped.
Matthew 14:33
And those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, �You are certainly God�s Son
Hello everyone,
Yes the truthseeker is at it one more time, to get you to THINK about what you have been told, and what you believe.
This section of the Scriptures has been taught many times over the years, almost every person teaching from this Scripture says, the reason Peter had begun to sink was that Peter had taken his eyes off of Messiah. IS this true, OR could there be another reason.
The REAL answer will not be found in most of the translations, but in the language the Word had been originally written in, namely the Greek language.
The reason why Peter had begun to sink is found in verses 27 - 31
Matthew 14: 26
When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, �It is a ghost!� And they cried out in fear.
Mat 14:27
But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, �Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.�
Mat 14:28
Peter said to Him, �Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.�
Mat 14:29
And He said, �Come!� And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus.
Mat 14:30
But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, �Lord, save me!�

Let us also discuss Messiahs response to Peters request to be saved, verses 30 - 31
I looked at 28 translations and only 3 have a good understanding of verse 27.

Jesus showed His deity by catching Peter as he was sinking and bringing him back in the boat.
And then in Matthew 14:32 we read: And when they climbed in the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat {Including Peter!} **WORSHIPED HIM**, saying, "Truly you are the **SON OF GOD**!!"

I haven't looked at the Greek George... I'll toss my 2� in and research later. Y'all have a God Blessed and Holy Spirit Filled day or night wherever you are.
PPeter lost his faith~belief when the waters (life) became difficult ... He cried out for Yahshua / Jesus to save him...so he must have had some trust...but that's not what the LORD stated...it was about lil Faith...

Richard is toooooo lazy to look into the Greek, because his 'Faith has been made up'. He does not want to believe that the niv is the words of men, not GOD Almighty.

However, God chose Peter to give the sermon on the Day of Pentecost and his many miracles and good works are mentioned 70 times in the Book of Acts. God also inspired Peter to write the wonderful inspiring books of I Peter and 2 Peter .
