1 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: 2 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses seat. 3 So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. 4 They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other peoples shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.
5 Everything they do is done for people to see: They make their phylacteries[a] wide and the tassels on their garments long; 6 they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; 7 they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called Rabbi by others.
8 But you are not to be called Rabbi, for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers. 9 And do not call anyone on earth father, for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. 10 Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah.
It has been brought up in this Forum by Richard (prophetic) that Catholics are wrong in calling their Priests 'Father'
Here is one paragraph of Richard's Accusations:
(Richard's Words)
One of the main differences between the Roman Catholic church and evangelical churches is the Roman Catholic belief that the Roman Catholic Popes have the power
to change the Biblical teachings of the NT New Covenant. For example: In Luke 2:2-4 Jesus commanded his followers to only pray to the Father in heaven and that only the Father in Heaven can forgive our sins and Jesus commands us to call no one Father except our Father in heaven
Arch, A Roman Catholic; defends the Roman Catholic position that Mary was a sinless virgin after giving birth to Jesus and states:
"It is Ludicrous to think that Mary would have Intercourse with Joseph after having given birth to The Son of God!(not to mention losing that Gift of Virginity maintained by God)."
However, what does Scripture which is God-breathed say:
2 Timothy 3:16; & 2 Tim 4:3,4: **ALL SCRIPTURE** is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.... For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths."
Matthew 1:24,25: When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he had no union with her **UNTIL** she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.
Mark 6:1,3:Jesus left and went to His hometown...and began to teach...They asked, "Isn't this the carpenter? Isn't this Mary's son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren't His sisters here with us?"
Mark 3:31-34: Then Jesus' mother and BROTHERS arrived. Standing outside...A crowd was sitting around Him, and they told Him, "Your mother and BROTHERS are outside looking for you." "Who are My mother and my brothers?" Jesus asked. Then He looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, "Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does God's will is my brother and sister and mother!"
Matthew 6:6,9-11: Jesus says, When you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your **Father**, who is unseen. Then your **Father**, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you ...This then is how you should pray: Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be your name, your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.....
Is there even one instance where a believer prayed to someone other than the **Father** in the OT or the NT?? Answer; ZERO!
What church had its evil leader:devil: decree that it is OK to pray to and worship Mary, a human being, who was a sinless VIRGIN??
Matthew 1:24,25: When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he had no union with her **UNTIL** she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.
*** Yes these verses state clearly Joseph [ new her not ] until before the birth of Jesus
Mark 6:1,3:Jesus left and went to His hometown...and began to teach...They asked, "Isn't this the carpenter? Isn't this Mary's son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren't His sisters here with us?"
*** Yes these verses mention Jesus* siblingsJames is the Eldest brother of Jesusthe others are I believe came after Jesus was bornso I to do not agree with Mary [ remained a virgin ] after the Lord had been born for the scripture does not state this
Mark 3:31-34: Then Jesus' mother and BROTHERS arrived.
*** YesJesus said "Here are my mother & my brother"meaning we are All related in Christ Jesus
What church had its evil leader:devil: decree that it is OK to pray to and worship Mary, a human being, who was a sinless VIRGIN??
*** :stop:...Ive seen this SLAM / FLAME statement way more than onceits a on-going personal attack to anyone that is CatholicYa cant catch Bees with Vinegar Richard:rolleyes:...xo
