Free-will doctrinewhat does it do? It magnifies man into God; it declares God's purposes a nullity, since they cannot be carried out unless men are willing. It makes God's will a waiting servant to the will of man, and the whole covenant of grace dependent upon human action. Denying election on the ground of injustice, it holds God to be a debtor to sinners, so that if he gives grace to one he is bound to do so to all. It teaches that the blood of Christ was shed equally for all men and since some are lost, this doctrine ascribes the difference to man's own will, thus making the atonement itself a powerless thing until the will of man gives it efficacy...http://www.spurgeon.org/sermons/0502.htm

And just a quick note for you Calvinists-Calvin never heard of T.U.L.I.P.-that was formulated at the Synod of Dort in 1618, some 54 years after Calvins death.

And on further reading I have come across many articles which state Calvin never believed in Limited Atonement!

Dear oh dear, talk about a confused bunch.

"If there was no choice on my part, why not just hang out and do my will...since I'm either condemned to Hell or already have my spot secure in Heaven.

No use in going out and spreading the Gospel because no one needs to hear it because God has already chosen them...and they don't have to do a thing."

If this was what we actually believed, then you may have a point here. However this is not what we believe. This is a distortion of what we believe. If people would actually listen what we believe, it would cause much less confusion and wasted time in these threads.

And not to forget-Calvin the self proclaimed "Pope of Geneva" was responsible for the torture and murder of those who opposed his doctrines.

Some christian you Calvinists adore!

Reigns....You are bringing up tired arguments that have nothing to do with whether or not the doctrines of grace are biblical or not.

I have studied what you believe along with many other people's beliefs. I stick with the Bible.

There are too many instances where the Bible says ALL, that is not implying a subset of the human race.

Bob wrote: "Teach - she has been admonished publicly and privately to quit teachin' false gospel, bad theology, post verses out of context, etc. but she continues because by golly, nobody is going to tell her what to do and I do mean NOBODY!! "

I answer to God for what I write...not you, as you have no authority to admonish me. The Word of God speaks for itself...and it appears it irritates you.

Is it your intent to show how spiritual you are with your posts?

Mark 7:20And he [Jesus] said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.

21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

@HoldingOutHope-tired...or true?

To sum up-Calvin was saved by his own admission by baptism, the works of a RC priest. Calvin was heavily influenced by Augustine, a RC theologian. Calvin called himself a Pope, just like the head of the RCC does. Calvin ran a police state like the RCC did. Calvin tortured and murdered those who opposed him, just as the RCC did. Calvin DIDN'T teach Unlimited Atonement and Calvin never heard of T.U.L.I.P.

Call all that tired if you wish, I call it true-the facts speak for themselves-SOME CHRISTIAN. You shall know them by their fruit, and Calvins was rotten.

You clearly do not study what we believe from people who believe what we believe. In other words, you aren't going to the source. You clearly read about our beliefs from people who differ from our beliefs. How do I know? You are misrepresenting what we believe.

I've read the sources and investigated the history Holding-I have Institutes open before me as I write. I agree with teach above-its the Calvinists who have distorted Gods Word-not the other way round.
