Question: Does 40 million dollars in a bank account satisfy verses 8-10 of 1st Timothy chapter 6?

...8 If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content. 9 But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all [g]sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

Question: What does a man of God need with money?

Question: Is Joel Osteen the model of Christianity? Is he following in Christ's footsteps of humility and service? Did Christ possess 40 million shekels?

Did the apostles?

I know roughly 40 million reasons to get as far away from Joel Osteen as possible!

Take it for what it's worth...and if you don't like what I have to say...

1 Timothy 6

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

Instructions to Those Who Minister

6 All who are under the yoke as slaves are to regard their own masters as worthy of all honor so that the name of God and our doctrine will not be [a]spoken against. 2 Those who have believers as their masters must not be disrespectful to them because they are brethren, but must serve them all the more, because those who [b]partake of the benefit are believers and beloved. Teach and [c]preach these principles.

3 If anyone advocates a different doctrine and does not [d]agree with sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine conforming to godliness, 4 he is conceited and understands nothing; but he [e]has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words, out of which arise envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions, 5 and constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who suppose that [f]godliness is a means of gain. 6 But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment. 7 For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it either. 8 If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content. 9 But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all [g]sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

11 But flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, [h]perseverance and gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 13 I charge you in the presence of God, who [i]gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who testified the good confession before Pontius Pilate, 14 that you keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 which He will [j]bring about at the proper timeHe who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of [k]kings and Lord of [l]lords, 16 who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see. To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen.

17 Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. 18 Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good [m]works, to be generous and ready to share, 19 storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed.

20 O Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you, avoiding worldly and empty chatter and the opposing arguments of what is falsely called knowledge 21 which some have professed and thus gone astray [n]from the faith.

Grace be with you.

And an excerpt from 1st Corinthians chapter 4...

11 To this present hour we are both hungry and thirsty, and are poorly clothed, and are roughly treated, and are homeless; 12 and we toil, working with our own hands; when we are reviled, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure; 13 when we are slandered, we try to [g]conciliate; we have become as the scum of the world, the dregs of all things, even until now.

Does this sound like Joel Osteen? Is Joel Osteen following this example laid down by one of the greatest men who ever lived?

1 Corinthians 4

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

Servants of Christ

4 Let a man regard us in this manner, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. 2 In this case, moreover, it is required [a]of stewards that one be found trustworthy. 3 But to me it is a very small thing that I may be examined by you, or by any human [b]court; in fact, I do not even examine myself. 4 For I am conscious of nothing against myself, yet I am not by this acquitted; but the one who examines me is the Lord. 5 Therefore do not go on [c]passing judgment before [d]the time, but wait until the Lord comes who will both bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of mens hearts; and then each mans praise will come to him from God.

6 Now these things, brethren, I have figuratively applied to myself and Apollos for your sakes, so that in us you may learn not to exceed what is written, so that no one of you will become [e]arrogant in behalf of one against the other. 7 For who regards you as superior? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?

8 You are already filled, you have already become rich, you have become kings without us; and indeed, I wish that you had become kings so that we also might reign with you. 9 For, I think, God has exhibited us apostles last of all, as men condemned to death; because we have become a spectacle to the world, [f]both to angels and to men. 10 We are fools for Christs sake, but you are prudent in Christ; we are weak, but you are strong; you are distinguished, but we are without honor.

14 I do not write these things to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children. 15 For if you were to have countless tutors in Christ, yet you would not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. 16 Therefore I exhort you, be imitators of me. 17 For this reason I have sent to you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, and he will remind you of my ways which are in Christ, just as I teach everywhere in every church. 18 Now some have become [h] arrogant, as though I were not coming to you. 19 But I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I shall find out, not the [i]words of those who are arrogant but their power. 20 For the kingdom of God does not consist in [j]words but in power. 21 What do you desire? Shall I come to you with a rod, or with love and a spirit of gentleness?

This sounds like another angry thread..sigh..I will pray for those who are angry. Love one another, Be kind.

One day I had had it with all the suffering in my life!!! I begged on my hands and knees for God to show me he was real!! I spoke out loud " Prove It!!" Well He sure did!!!! After that I continued to turn the TV channel and Joel Osteen was on. Then I began to look for his channel soon after. I believed in my heart and confessed with my mouth Jesus is Lord! That is when I was born again. I started studying the Bible and my life has been changed forever.

My wish is that people would stop putting down others. Be kind to each other.

Would you prefer I did not warn people?

Would you prefer I did not point out the apostasy and mis-representation of Christ?

Would you prefer I remain silent when people use Christ to exploit my fellow brothers and sisters all over the world?

I'd really like to know what you would do if you saw this video a few nights ago as I did. Would you say anything, would you warn anyone about Joel Osteen?

I felt led to share this video with all of you to serve as a warning because I cared for all of you. I have done that.

"This is not A christian response"

And what would be a Christian response? Quoting scripture?

Satan can quote scripture. Satan can appear as a bright and shining angel. That doesnt make him a servant of God.

I knew the first time I saw Osteen that he was not preaching the Word of God as it was intended. He, and others like him, are twisting the Word to serve their own purposes, be it money, or fame, or power over others. They are hucksters selling a product. They use "catchphrases" and promises of riches. Jesus said that anyone who came to the Father, except through Him, was like a thief in the night.

Osteen may as well be selling the Ronco Salvation Rotisserie Oven: "Just set it and forget it, then watch the riches flow to you...if you send me $19.95 God will send you lots of money." It is an abomination.
