"What Must I Do To Be Saved"

The Bible tells us that when we die we will spend eternity (a very long time, wouldnt you agree?) in either paradise or torment. Matthew 25:46. If we search the Bible, with an open mind and heart, we will discover what God says about how to gain eternal life in heaven. If not, maybe we are relying upon what friends or family or churches have taught or told us. Is this wise? Or should we investigate for ourselves? If you were buying a car, would you rely upon what you were told or would you check it out for yourself? If you were buying a home, would you rely upon what you are told or would you check it for yourself? Eternity is much more important than earthly matters. Lets look at what God says, week by week, to see how what we might think compares with what the Bible says. Then, remember, God promises that if we seek him we will find him! I Chronicles 28:9, II Chronicles 15:2, Proverbs 8:17.

We will go through the New Testament of the Bible, week by week, stopping at each of the hundreds of verses that tell us how we might gain eternal life in heaven. But, first, let us spend a moment considering whether or not the Bible is true, and inspired by God, as it declares in II Timothy 3:16, or whether it is a pack of fairy tales, as some would contend. If the Bible is not true, such a search is without any value. But, if the Bible is true, and God does tell us in the Bible how to gain eternal life and avoid eternal torment, then this is the most important search that any of us will ever conduct.

There are many proofs that the Bible is true, but let me mention a few. The center of the Bible is Jesus and the key question here is whether or not he rose from the dead, as the Bible says. If he did, I think this would prove the Bible is true, dont you? Will you be writing out todays date at any time? 2007 means 2007 years from the birth of Jesus. Something important must have happened back then to establish our dating system. And, do you notice a difference between the Christian countries of the world and the countries that have been plagued by false religion? If not, I suggest you turn on your television news this evening and you may notice some differences. And, finally, let us consider the disciples. All but one of the remaining eleven died a martyrs death for teaching that Jesus was God. These men knew whether Jesus rose from the dead or not because they were there. Did they die a martyrs death to protect a lie? If so, for what conceivable reason? Next week lets consider what may be the greatest outside proof of the Bibles truth and then well begin to look at verses that tell us how to gain Gods great gift of eternal life in paradise!

Before we start looking at salvation verses, lets look at a great proof of the truth of the Bible. How do we know the Bible is true and not one of the other multitude of false religions? Lets consider prophecy. Most of the false religions of the world do not even attempt prophecy and those that do invariably get it wrong. Humanism, the man centered religion of todays elite, and many others, published its Bible, the Humanist Manifesto I, in 1933. Within 40 years, in 1973, it had to be rewritten (the Bible has never been rewritten) as their first Bible couldnt even accurately predict 40 years hence. And, these scholars are still rewriting the Bible they couldnt quite get straight (and never will). But in the real (i.e. Christian) Bible are hundreds of prophecies, most already fulfilled to the letter with only a few yet to be fulfilled. For example, thousands of years ago it was predicted that Jerusalem would be destroyed, the Jews exiled and scattered and persecuted, and that the Jews would again be drawn to Israel to there recreate their nation (which occurred in 1948). The Bible also foretold that Israel (a tiny nation no bigger than most of our states), as we approach the end of time, would become the center of world history--and if you dont believe that incredible prophecy is being fullfilled before your very eyes, just pick up and read any newspaper any day of the week. See http://www.aboutbibleprophecy.com for references to these and many other prophecies. I think we should worry a lot less about todays maddening political situation, which God will deal with in His time, and a lot more about where you and I will spend eternity. The Bible, for example, has a lot to say about what will happen in the Mideast in the coming years - - but more importantly it has much more to say about where you and I will spend eternity.

""God choose those who choose His Son to be the elect."

This is rank heresy and totally contrary to the Word of God.

Rom 8

29For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified

The Bible teaches us that God predestinated us to be conformed to the image of his Son. It does NOT teach that man chooses to conform himself to Christ and then God chooses him.

Also, I never asked anything about the OP or what you believed about it. I asked specifically about your post on predestination because it was terribly weak reasoning. You know this much because your response was that truth doesn't need to be defending which one of the more anti-Christian responses you could have given. Translation, you didn't have a defense.

The bible says God chooses and they follow right behind and say that man chooses. When asked for a defense, they either claim it doesn't need to be defended, give irrelevant verses, or talk about "world" and "all"....having no idea what they mean. TBK, thanks for posting the relevant scriptures. I noticed she conveniently ignored you as well.

Dove said:

"We all have different belief of Faith."

But the Bible clearly teaches us otherwise. The Bible says that there is only ONE faith. Pertaining to the gospel, salvation, atonement and so on, we do not get to all have different beliefs. You believe the Word or you are an unbeliever.

Eph 4

4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism

6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

The scriptures in your original post don't address our critiques of your posts. It's been shown that there is one faith. We aren't several religions all rolled up into one and whatever anyone believes is fine. Have you so quickly forgotten the verses I posted about defending THE gospel? There isn't many gospels. There is one.

Since you brought up your OP scriptures....

" Then, remember, God promises that if we seek him we will find him! I Chronicles 28:9, II Chronicles 15:2, Proverbs 8:17."

Who seeks? Romans 3:11

Now please tell me which of the verses from your OP have addressed anything we've critiqued?

"We are All free here to Post"- Did anyone here deny this?

Here are all of the verses from your OP.

Matt 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal

1 Ch. 28:9 And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever

1 Ch. 15:2 And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you

Prov 8:17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

2 Tim 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

For the record, I saw them all. I just didn't see how the others she could even remotely relate to the conversation :goofball:
