Gracenotworkssaves posted church service-worship service on September 5, 2015

"Hello everyone

I hear these two sayings a lot by Christians, church service--- worship service, I cannot find either of these terms nor any references to them in the entire New Covenant.

Is there someone which could post at least one Scripture showing where we are to be ' Going to church', ' Attending a worship service' or 'Going to a church service'.

I do not believe these 'things' are in the Word of GOD almighty, that they have been made up by men to entertain the people and to keep the masses from knowing the truth of who Messiah

Yeshua really is.

Have fun searching the Scriptures concerning these man made events."

In response: Here are more than one Scripture passages in response to your thread. Prayerfully, this will help you and others to know the truth as to why Christian believer are to gather together in one place as the Body of Christ...doesn't matter if its in a church building that has been set aside for the place to honor God in worship, or if its a home, or at McDonalds... as a church (Body of Christ) we are to gather together as ONE in obedience to Christ, who tell us that, Where two or MORE are gather together in HIS NAME He is in our midst"...

I do not know your purpose of intent to prove or disprove that we, as Christian believers are to assemble ourselves together, or if this is to justify YOU not attending church worship services but throughout the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John we find wherein, Jesus Himself and the disciples attended church/worship services in the temple and synagogues, praying and worshipping God and preaching and teaching the gospel to the people.

You requested one Scripture passage, in the New Testament but to assure you of our obligation as the Body of Christ, that we are to gather together (attend church-worship service) as ONE BODY IN CHRIST AS THE CHURCH IN ONE PLACE TOGETHER... I will provide you with more than ONE PASSAGE. Its your choice to decide what YOU will dotherefore, I have you not ignorant my brother of GODS TRUTH, NOT BASED ON YOUR OWN BELIEFS OR TRUTH ACCORDING TO WHAT YOU THINK AND BELIEVE but the CHURCH gathered to gather often and regularly in ONE PLACE that was set aside for praise and worship of our Lord. Call it what you may, church service, worship service or whatever... the purpose of gathering together as Christian believers in one place has ONLY one goal in mind...to worship and praise our Lord Jesus Christ in one accord as a group.

1. Matthew 16:13-20

18 "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church (Body of Christ) ; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

2. On the Day of Pentecost the Body of Christ (the Church were gathered together in one place

Acts 2: When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in ONE PLACE."

4. Throughout the book of Acts we find the Apostles and disciples, and THE CHURCH (People-BODY OF CHRIST) praying and worshipping together either in the temple (church) or the synagogue (church), as well as the new Christian believers in homes. You search the Scriptures for yourself. Acts 1:42-45; Acts 3:1-11; Acts 5:42; Acts 6:9-443; Acts 10:1-24; Acts 11-12; Acts 13:5-14; Acts 14:1; Acts 20:17.

5. The Apostle Paul writes in Ephesians 4:11-12, So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people (the saints/church-Body of Christ) for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.

If no one is attending church as a group of believers what use are the called position God has given in the church, if the body is scatters and not attending together in one place as the Body of Christ?

6. The gifts of the Holy Spirit were given to the CHURCH (Body of Christ) in the CHURCH, not so that each person as the Lone Ranger for their own use... I Corinthians 12,

7. In I Peter 5:2-4 Be shepherds of Gods flock that is under your care, watching over themnot because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.

A flock is not one person, nor is a flock two or three people its the gathering of a group of people/sheep , etc... in one place otherwise, how can you effectively care for them or shepherd a flock properly if they are scattered all over the place?

8. Church Discipline is also to be brought before the CHURCH... how can this happen if no one is gathered together in ONE PLACE AS THE BODY OF CHRIST?

Matthew 8:15-17... "And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto you as a heathen man and a tax collector."

9. Paul also speaks about defiling the church in I Corinthians chapter 5: In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, along with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus."

I could go on to show YOU your error as it pertains to Christian believers gathering together in one place to worship and praise our Lord... Nevertheless, For you or anyone to say that gathering together as ONE BODY IN CHRIST IS NOT IMPORTANT OR THE TERMS USED IS OF MAN, MATTERS NOT WHAT YOU CALL IT... THIS IS A LIE OF THE DEVIL!.. NO WHERE CAN YOU PROVIDE A SCRIPTURE THAT SAYS BELIEVERS ARE NOT TO GATHER TOGETHER IN ONE PLACE, AND FOR SURE IS NOT BIBLICAL NOR CAN BE FOUND IN GOD'S HOLY WORD THAT WHEN BELIEVERS OD GATHER THIS IS NOT CALLED WORSHIP SERVICE OR CHURCH SERVICE..

For believers to gather corporately in one place is found through out the New Testament., whether they gather in a temple, or any kind of building that is called a church... attendance promotes fellowship and encouragement.. again, call it church service or worship service THIS IS NOT important.

If you and your family gather together and this is important for fellowship with one another as a family, should not this be the same for Christian believers who gather togethr in one place to worship and praise the Lord? YES!...

Again, The church building is a place dedicated to the worship of the corporate BODY OF CHRIST TO come together in one place having all things in common, with one spiritual purpose in mind, to worship in one accord our Lord Jesus Christ as ONE BODY IN CHRIST.

You find this gathering in unity from the Old Testament throughout the New Testament and finally in the book of Revelation, when ALL THE SAINTS OF GOD WILL GATHER IN ONE PLACE TO WORSHIP AND SING PRAISE TO GOD OUR FATHER AND OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST IN HIS HOLY TEMPLE!

The 1st century Christian believers could not afford a church building therefore they DID NOT have a building built for worshipping God, but they still gathered wherever they could in ONE PLACE in one accorded to worship the Lord.

DO NOT ALLOW THE DEVIL TO DECEIVE YOU INTO BELIEVING THAT THIS IS NOT SCRIPTURAL, AND IS NOT OF GOD... THE DEVIL IS A LAIR PREVENTING YOU AND OTHERS FROM GETTING SPIRITUALLY STRONG IN THE LORD THROUGH THE FELLOWSHIPPING AND PRAISING GOD WITH OTHER CHRISTIAN BELIEVERS IN ONE PLACE, THIS IS TO STRENGTHEN YOUR FAITH WHEN YOU GATHER IN THE HOUSE OF WORSHIP WITH OTHER BELIEVERS.

The church building is CALLED A HOUSE OF WORSHIP, denoting that it is the place where the CHURCH (BODY OF CHRIST) gathers together in one place in one accord... no different than your HOUSE IS CALLED A HOME WHERE YOUR FAMILY LIVES AND GATHERS TOGETHER IN ONE PLACE AND IN ONE ACCORD... TO LIVE AS A FAMILY!:glow:.. what does going hme mean or have to do with going to your house where your family lives and gather?... terms have nothing to do with what God commands or expects of us... so don't get lost in the use of terms " attending worshp service" or "going to church service" to justify YOU not attending or gathering together with other believers in one place,,, you can find yourself in spiritual error, as you already are...and is MORE spiritual damaging than the TERMS!

The big question is: ARE YOU IN OBEDIENCE/COMPLIANCE WITH, AND TO WHAT GOD REQUIRES OF US FOR OUR OWN SPIRITUAL GROWTH AND COMMANDS OF US AS CHRISTIAN BELIEVERS...

Hebrews 10:24-25:

"And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.":glow:

ONLY FOR THE PURPOSE AND SAKE OF EDIFICATION OF GOD'S PEOPLE!...

1 Timothy CHAPTER 3 King James Version (KJV)

This is a true saying, if a man desire the OFFICE of a bishop, he desireth a good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre; Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless. Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.

Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.

For they that have used the OFFICE of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly: But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the HOUSE OF GOD, which is the CHURCH of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

ONLY FOR THE PURPOSE AND SAKE OF EDIFICATION OF GOD'S PEOPLE... WHAT GOD'S WORD SAYS ABOUT PAYING THE PASTOR AND MEETING HIS FINANCIAL AND PHYSICAL NEEDS...

The first passage is I Timothy 5:17, 18: "The ELDERS (PASTORS) who direct the affairs of the CHURCH well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching.

"For the Scripture says, 'Do not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain,' and 'The worker deserves his wages.'

I Corinthians 9:1-18 and II Corinthians 11:7 show Paul also found work instead of accepting money from the Corinthians, but II Corinthians 11:8-9 and Philippians 4:15-18 make it clear he did accept support from other churches, and in I Corinthians 9:14 he stoutly defends that right.

In fact, in II Corinthians 12:13 he tells the Corinthians they were less favored than the other churches, because they did not enjoy the privilege of giving to his needs!

Also note that the tithes in the Old Testament were used not only to care for the poor, but also to care for the NEEDS OF THE PRIESTS AND SPIRITUAL LEADERS, so they would not have need to work, but spend their time ministering to the spiritual needs of the people.

The 1st century CHURCHES CARED FOR THE NEEDS OF JESUS, THE APOSTLE PAUL AND ALL THE OTHER APOSTLES THROUGHOUT THE NEW TESTAMENT.

Hi Ella

Thank you for your name calling. Is that what the cemetery taught you, that when confronted with the truth of the Word of GOD, make fun of those which have the truth in order to keep attention away from your ignorance of the Word of GOD.

Now let us look into what the Holy Spirit had empowered the CO-ELDER Peter to write about Biblical Eldership.

We will post the first 3 verses of 1 Peter chapter 5: 1-3

We will post different translations of this section of the Word of GOD, then you will need to TRANSLATE this Scripture in order to understand what GOD Almighty says to His ASSEMBLIES concerning Biblical Eldership.

NASB

1 Therefore, I exhort the elders among you, as [your] fellow elder and witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker also of the glory that is to be revealed,

2 shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to [the will of] God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness;

3 nor yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock

KJV

1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:

2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight [thereof], not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

3 Neither as being lords over [God's] heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.

ESV

1 So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed:

2 shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly;

3 not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock

Young's Literal translation

1 Elders who [are] among you, I exhort, who [am] a fellow-elder, and a witness of the sufferings of the Christ, and of the glory about to be revealed a partaker,

2 feed the flock of God that [is] among you, overseeing not constrainedly, but willingly, neither for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind,

3 neither as exercising lordship over the heritages, but patterns becoming of the flock,

Aramaic Bible in Plain English

1 But I beg the Elders who are among you, I, your fellow Elder and witness of the sufferings of The Messiah and a sharer of his glory, which is going to be revealed: 2 Shepherd the flock of God that follows you and give care spiritually, not by compulsion, but with pleasure, not by defiled profit, but with all your heart,

3 Not as lords of the flock, but as excellent examples to them.

To which group of people has the Holy Spirit addressed this Word of GOD to, the 'pastors', ABSOLUTELY not, this is to the ELDERS, the OLDER MEN.

Notice in verse 1; Peter says that he himself is only a CO-ELDER, fellow elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Messiah.

Verse 2, the Holy Spirit empowers Peter to say that the Elders( plural )are to have the 'OVERSIGHT' of the body of believers, not a pastor ( singular).

Verse 3, The care of the assembly has been given to the Elders ( plural) not a pastor ( singular).

Please do not make fun of those which the Holy Spirit empowers to seek the truth, by questioning the translations, and by translating the Scripture over to receive the truth afresh.

Please do yourself a favor, begin translating the Scripture posted, then ask ABBA for His power to translate the other Scriptures I shall post, these also have been translated wrongly.

When we study a bad translation, our understanding will also bad, then when we talk about the Word of GOD, we will be presenting wrongly what GOD Almighty has spoken

to His people.

Study to show yourself, Now finish this after you have translated it .

Shalom

George, thank you for participating in the topic, I'm sorry, but I really don't see this back and forth quoting Scripture as you're doing without you understanding what it is you're quoting or you being able to properly discuss or explain what God in the passage is speaking about... I see this going nowhere whatsoever... God bless :glow:

Hi Ella

The typical response of a Christian who is not willing for the Holy Spirit to teach and instruct unto a right understanding of what GOD Almighty has written in His Word.

Is seems as though you are as many Christians which say,

Do not confuse me with the Facts contained within the Word of GOD, seeing that my FAITH is made up, and I do not want that to be changed.

Sad, so very sad.

Oh LORDHave Mercy!!!...Here we go again with the Wrong Translation Again

ET...this is what George does...and he does it very well...I quit dancing with him...it just goes round and round...So I just post the Truth and let the Folks see it for them selves...those that have eyes to see and ears to hear will...besides...who wants to listen to person who continually tells yall, yall are wrong when they themself is found to be in error......Just sayin...

Check out just 3 Translationsand the Aramaic is the Oldest

1 pet 5:2

King James Bible

Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

New American Standard Bible

shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness;

Aramaic Bible in Plain English

Shepherd the flock of God that follows you and give care spiritually, not by compulsion, but with pleasure, not by defiled profit, but with all your heart,

The word Shepherd in GREEK is G4165 and is confirmed in All the TranslationsYall can verify this for your selvesjust go to http://biblehub.com/text/1_peter/5-2.htm ... look at the chartjust look at the 1st columesee the 4165click on itBINGO!we have Winner !!!

Cognate: 4165 poimanō properly, to shepherd, caring for (protecting) the flock.

4165 /poimanō ("shepherding, pastoring") is distinct from "feeding" (1006 /bskō). 4165 (poimanō) focuses on "tending" ("shepherding") (WS, 274), which includes guarding, guiding, and folding the flock and is only provided (ultimately) by Jesus Christ the Shepherd, who calls under-shepherds (such as elder-overseers) to guard and guide His people by His direction (1 Pet 5:1-5). See 4166 (poimēn).etcetcetc

HeyBut what do I knowI study Hebrew and this is ALL Greek to me lol

Yall hava Blessed day wherever ya are in the world !!! X <>< O

Hi Jude

Glad to see you are studying Hebrew, learn to translate, then show others what you have learned.

Why do you always mock people when they want to bring truth to the forefront, that is your M.O.

How about doing a little translating of the Greek into English, you might be singing a different tune.

What do I know, maybe I should be like the Christians, just shut up, sit silently as the so called pastor speaks what he believes the Word of GOD says, go along with the prescribed programs, and float downstream like the other spiritually dead salmon.

Oh my, he did not say that did he.

AMEN AND... Jude, and we as Christians who know the truth of God's Word MUST continue to obey what is written in order to Avoid Dissension..." But avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and strivings about the Gospel; for this is unprofitable and useless. Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition, knowing that such a person is warped and sinning, being self-condemned."

Thank you Jude, for your participation on this topic... also, thank to everyone who shared a true Word from the Lord...I appreciate you!
