The Evidence of the Holy Ghost Baptism is Speaking in Tongues

New Languages Ordained by God, Yet Despised by Man ...

Many people look askance when an individual, or a church, projects the Word of God in its fullness, and implement God's Word in their lives as He commands us to do. Argumentations particularly arise when the Word of God is quoted for the pattern of salvation:

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent (have a change of mind), and be baptized (i.e. immersed)every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shallreceive the gift of the Holy Ghost." - with the evidence of speaking in tongues - ACTS 2:38.

Much disagreement also arises when God's Word is shown to command us to worship Him in the new language, which the Lord puts on the lips of a person as He converts him to the Christian 'walk'. There is, however, no confusion or disagreement in God's Word, and He commands people to do as He says, not what they want to do:

"If ye love me, keep my commandments." (JOHN 14:15)

We find that God says in JOHN 4:23-24:

"But the hour cometh, and now is, when the TRUE WORSHIPPERSshall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."

See 1 CORINTHIANS 14:14where the Apostle Paul enlightens us concerning his ability to pray in the spirit by use of the new language. Read verse 18 also.

We do note that the scripture in JOHN 4 defines 'true worshippers', indicating there would be worshippers (but not 'true' ones) whose worship is not accepted by God because their prayers are not in the Spirit (i.e. praying to God in the new tongues He gives).

God gave many people the new miraculous languages on their lips on the day of Pentecost (about fifty days after Christ's crucifixion) - ACTS 2:1-4. On that day, the Christian Church was born, and these new languages glorified the works of God (see verse 11).

ACTS 2:37-39 give allmankind the full pattern of God's salvation. There is no compromise with God's Word! We see in JOHN 16:14that God's Spirit (as we pray in the new language) glorifies Jesus and reveals Him to us. Moreover in ACTS 2:11, we are shown that the Spirit glorified God as they prayed in the new languages: God commands that this is a 'MUST' for those who worship Him (those who are saved) - JOHN 4:24.

Why then, when God's Word is so clear, should there be rebellion and confusion in the world on this issue today? God's Word tells us why! Because man and man's ways are at enmity with God - JAMES 4:4; 1 JOHN 2:15-16; ISAIAH 55:8-9. This enmity is shown clearly in these scriptures.

LUKE 2:34 "And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against."

We note that God's Word says in ACTS 28:22that 'this sect' was spoken against everywhere.

ACTS 2:22 says: "Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know."

ISAIAH 66:18,19tells us that this sign would be in the midst of His people.

People who pray in the Spirit (with the miraculous new languages given to them by God), are said to be heretics, fanatics, and so on. God's Word forewarns us that the people would say just this:

ACTS 24:14 "But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets."

Note also that verse 25of ACTS 24 tells us:

"And as he (Paul)reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee."

If Paul, being of 'the way' by God's power, caused Felix the Governor to tremble, we also should keep to God's Word, follow God's way, and let God cause the nation to tremble and turn to Him. Why speak against 'God's way' when the nation is in such dire need? Why speak against God's Word and be judged for it?

HEBREWS 13:15 says: "By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of ourlips giving thanks to his name."

This scripture was written to the Hebrews, a Spirit-filled people.

We have seen previously how God's Holy Spirit was poured out when the Church was born in ACTS 2:1-4.

Other relevant scriptures are:

ACTS 10:44-48 (Verse 46 shows how they knew the Holy Spirit was poured out).

ACTS 11:15-17(Peter was present on the day of Pentecost).

ACTS 19:1-6.

The Word of God in DEUTERONOMY 4:2, PROVERBS 30:6 and ECCLESIASTES 3:14 warns every person not to add to, or take away from God's Word, BUT to accept it as written by men inspired by the Holy Spirit.

'The fruit of (the) lips' of those people to whom Paul wrote in HEBREWS 13:15would include the new, miraculous, God-given languages of the Holy Spirit.

All these scriptures should be clear to God's 'born-again' (JOHN 3:1-7) sons and daughters everywhere (ALSOto the unsaved person, who should take heed of what God has written).

Remember, as one worships God in the new, heaven-given language, the Holy Spirit glorifies God (ACTS 2:11), praying according to His will (ROMANS 8:26-27), and glorifies and reveals Jesus to the believer (JOHN 16:14).

Jesus did saythat these signs would follow them that believe. He did not say these signs shall follow the unbelievers and critics. So we see that no person has any right to alter the pattern as laid down by God in His Word! ALLmust refuse to compromise on God's Word.

We note in 1 PETER 2:6, that God says a 'chief-cornerstone' is laid (i.e. Jesus Christ, who is the Word of God). Verses 7 and 8 tell us:

"Unto you therefore which believe (who trust and adhere to Jesus) he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders (the Jews) disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, and a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed."

JOHN 1:1-14reminds us that Jesus Christ is the Word of God. Because people are disobedient to Jesus' Words, and will not obey them, they stumble at them. Jesus said:

"If ye love me, keep my commandments." (JOHN 14:15).

GOD'S WORD IS CLEAR !!

THE WORD OF GOD DOES NOT NEED TO BE INTERPRETED - BUT ACTED UPON !

We are always to ...

EXALT THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST OUR SAVIOUR, BAPTIZER, GLORIOUS LORD, AND COMING KING.

...ANDthere is no way to do this, but by telling others of the pattern of salvation as written in God's Word, reading and obeying that Word, and worshipping God by praying in the new, heaven-given tongues poured out on His people when they are saved by His grace.

Angeloflove, I agree. One does not have to speak in tongues in order to have the baptism of the Holy Spirit or to be indwelled with Him. That is purely not Scriptural. If it was then we would see examples of ALL the people speaking in tongues in the book of Acts but we don't.

Thanks for clarifying this, sister

This response you altered the word of God you are not believing what is wriitten and yes there are two more witness establishng the bible fact but you would not accept them either.

@OP

I have two Aunts living in this City. They both belong different denominations. Church of the Nazareen and Church of God. They both have been "saved" for Years and have the Holy Spirit. They do not speak in tongues, I don't think because they do not talk of it. Sometimes People do not go to some Churchs that believe you Must speak in tongues to have the Holy Ghost because that is Not Scripture.

It is not about being Right. It is about Learning ALL truth.

Even my Pastor agrees, and he is Pentecost and knows the Scripture very Well. He is also Holy Ghost filled and baptized.

Amen. I agree Angel. This is a fact, sister.

Agapeton,

Once a month some new Christian gets on this group and ends up trying to REASON with PHillipJohn.

They are ALWAYS unsuccessful.

You made sense and asked questions and he refused to answer them.

This is what PhillipJohn ALWAYS DOES. He has done the same thing to ten other Christians before you joined the group.

In Christ,

James

When a believer receives the Holy Spirit and is filled he will speak in other tongues an unknown language to him and it could be known to everyone else present, that is not important, know if you notice it is the Holy Spirit that gives them the utterance in tongues it is the believer that speaks.

It says other tongue's in otherwords it is not a known tongue to those speaking in tongues.

Note The Holy Spirit did not go in them in this scripture he came upon them.

Agapeton what is wrong with this statement?

By the way, If this is the only example of tongues being spoken, then the gift of tongues is of a known man's language because people UNDERSTOOD THEM when they did it.

please see verse 4, the were speaking in other tounges as the spirit gave them utterance, but in verse 6 the other men heard them in their own language with further investigation of thses scriptures as I have kept my mouth shut and studied while yall argued I prayed and studied and here is my conclusion!!

this is 2 seperate miracles!! THe first is that these men were speaking in other tounges they were not speaking in anyones language at all but in vewrse 6 the men that spoke and understood other languages heard them in theri own language this is the second miracle they the men speaking in verse 4 were not speaking their own language and they were not speaking other languages either! they were speaking unknown tounges!

It is evedent that the author of acts had a differnt definition for the word tounge and language as if he had meant language in verse 4 he would have used the equivilent word to language the same word he used in verse 6 however he did not as he made a distintion between the 2 so it could not mean they were speaking ina language they did not know it meant that but it also meant a language that was unknown to man! This language ina second miracle in the same action was that the men listening heard them in their own language!

So in other words they spoke one thing and the other men heard something else so if the had spoke their own language (as I was wrong before and had not really understood the scripture and thought they were speaking their own language but I was wrong) it would have said that but it said they spoke in unknown tounges if they had been speaking the language that the others spoke then them hearing them in their own language would not have been a big deal!! However the author thought it important to point out the fact that the men in verse 6 heard them speaking in their native language so there for we must conclude that the author of acts wanted us to see that there was 2 diffeent miracles in this one occurance! that is all that can be concluded..

but the prayer language is explained better in corinthians where he says we are speaking to God and speaking mysteries this is very clear!

Act 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

Act 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

Act 2:3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

Act 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Act 2:7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?

Act 2:8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

Act 2:9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,

Act 2:10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,

Act 2:11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

Act 2:12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?

Act 2:13 Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.

Act 2:15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is [but] the third hour of the day.

Act 2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

Act 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

Act 2:18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

Act 2:19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

Act 2:20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:

Act 2:21 And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Act 2:22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:

Act 2:23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

Act 2:24 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.

Act 2:25 For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:

Act 2:26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:

Act 2:27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

Act 2:28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.

Act 2:29 Men [and] brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.

Act 2:30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;

Act 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

Act 2:32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.

Act 2:33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

Act 2:34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

Act 2:35 Until I make thy foes thy footstool.

Act 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

Act 2:37 Now when they heard [this], they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men [and] brethren, what shall we do?

Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Act 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, [even] as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Act 2:40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

Act 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added [unto them] about three thousand souls.

Act 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Act 2:43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.

Act 2:44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;

Act 2:45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all [men], as every man had need.

Act 2:46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

Act 2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

I see, sister but there really seems to be no example of this prayer language given to people in Scripture. We cannot go beyond that the Scriptures say (1 Cor. 4:6), sister. If there is no example of this language without any examples of Scripture to show for it then we have to abide by the Scriptures and no more. Agree?

We first have to find this tongues prayer language as being given in the book of the Acts of the Apostles to see if it was given as men teach it or the Scriptures teach it. Do you agree, sister?

No agape I do not agree ther is an example or at least a guide and expalnation of the prayer language

this is the scripture you refered to has nothjing to do with the subject

And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and [to] Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think [of men] above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.

however 1cr 14:2 does have something to do with it and proves the existance of a prayer language as it doesnt have to be in acts to be the truth

For he that speaketh in an [unknown] tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth [him]; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

so speaking to god and no man understands!! NO MAN!!! thjat sounds like the description of a prayer language to me!

a language that is differnet for everyone becasue otherwise you couldnt say no man understands and even the one speaking doesnt understand becasue no man understands we are speaking mysteries if anyone understood it would nop longer be a mysterie, but speaking only to God which is by definition prayer!1 is that not when we are speaking to God??

much love to all

It is not hard to walk in truth, but any and all must humble themself if they have fromerly accepted other than the word of God on any subject and when you humble yoursel and ask the lord to hel You See The truth on that topic youwill see it, keep it before your eyes and ear your ears and the truth will uproot all the unbelief and the light will come on.

There is not one Christian that can afford to not walk in this very important truth for the church.
