To preach the acceptable YEAR of the Lord... Luke 4:19..
Posted : 2 Jan, 2012 12:52 PM

Luk 4:18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, 19 to proclaim the YEAR of the Lord's favor." 20 And he rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. 21 And he began to say to them, "Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing."

The Passage that Jesus read was from the book of Isaiah from chapter 61 verses 1 and two. " The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the YEAR of the LORD's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn;.."

Question: If Jesus was the Lamb of God who would take away the sins of the world, He would have to fulfill all the Scriptures about being the lamb, correct?

With that being said: If we are to take Luke's chronological account (Luke 1:3) of Jesus' ministry on earth; where do we get the idea of Him being anointed and baptized to His crucifixion being a total of THREE YEARS when The Scriptures only say that the ACCEPTABLE time was ONE YEAR?

Does that make sense? Seriously. If the Scriptures say that the Lamb who was to be slain was also to be of ONE YEAR (Exodus 12:5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male a YEAR old...), then where did, or do we get the idea of Jesus' earthly ministry was THREE YEARS from?

Did Jesus, the lamb of God, sacrifice a lamb at the temple those 2 of the 3 years since he followed the Law on the passover, or was it only one year since he did this?

How can we reconcile the fact that the synoptic gospels show it to be one year ministry and we come up with three years in Christendom?

Wouldn't it even further explain the fact that Jesus' one year ministry would be one major reason WHY Philo, the Jewish historian at the time of jesus' existing, didn't hear of him and write of him in his time in during the feasts that he attended there?

Can we find proof for this, or is it also a man made assumption that was accepted through out time? Can we find proof of this anywhere?

Thanks again for your answers in advance. :peace:

James replies:

Jesus ministry was about 3.5 years.

You say you are under the leadership of a pastor, and that is good.

You say you have the Holy Spirit, and that is what every Christian has.

I think what you might need to have a bit more respect for, is the collective wisdom of all your brothers and sisters for the last two thousand years.

Yes, the Roman Catholic church is an apostate body, and you were right to leave it.

But that does NOT mean that they are wrong about every single thing.

Jesus ministry was about 3.5 years.

It is a somewhat complicated thing to study, but if you think it is important, I will oblige.

By the way, your English is very good.

In Christ,

James

ME: I see you are assuming that i challenge your belief because you cannot find it in the Scriptures to prove your assumption that you accept from man and call me a non-believer and unspirit filled because of it.

Nice. I wonder how close you fare to the same pharisee that Jesus questioned, rebuked, and directed His Scriptural ponderings with while they considered not Him not being from God.....

SAD.

I except the Truth; With guidance from the "Holy Spirit" .

You have No Clue as to Who I am; But God knows me

as His own.

I watched How you Post; it is not judging. God does that.

What is Sad is you have No real Faith to except God's

Whole Word.

God Bless You.

Right Angel:glow:... and you know what happens when people question God's word in disbelief, and yet cconfess to being a Christain believer is, that if they are asking questions for a better understanding the Holy Spirit will reveal to them the answers.

But if a believer is asking questions trying to denounce what God has written as not being a truth, God will make it difficult for the person to ARTICULATE what it is they are trying to say, and therefore, the person will speak in a state of confusion, saying and agreeing with one thing, then with another, God says a flase balance is a sin... it either one way or the other, not both.

As Paul points out, God will give the person a delusion, to casue the eprson to think that what he/she is speaking is correct when in fact it does not line up with nothing in God's word, nor with any biblical teachings.

This is why we, as believers must be very careful as to what we read online, and whose articles we quote from, because there are many people out there who are posting stuff that SOUND spiritually sound, but is really denouncing God and the BIble. And this is the sign of the antichrist, and how believers will be deceived into belieivng a lie as Paul speaks about in Thessalonians.

When a person denounces everything Christian faith is based upon, and give no biblically solutions we must them start questioning that person's motives, intent, and purpose as we are taught, otherwise, we will becaome deceived and find ourselves caught up in their false believes and doctrines...search the scriptures and compared commanteries, ask questions and listen to your pastor if he is biblically sound, and most importanly pray for guidence of the Holy Spirit for revelation fo what God is speaking.

SirJames, How can you come up with the belief that Jesus' ministry was 3 years when the only time that this discussion and belief came up in the 400 AD's by Eusebius of Caesarea in his Demonstratio Evangelica who argued for it?

How can we reconcile the fact that the synoptic gospels have Jesus' ministry set for one year?

I think what you might need to have a bit more respect for, is the collective wisdom of all your brothers and sisters for the last two thousand years.

ME:So, I guess the majority can't be wrong and the amount of years one believes something dictates truth, brother? Is that what you are saying?

Because this belief has only been in existence for 1500 years and the modern day Christians don't even challenge or research it.

But that does NOT mean that they are wrong about every single thing.

ME: It does not mean that they are right about every single thing too. Correct?

Jesus ministry was about 3.5 years.

Still under scrutiny by many scholars based on a non-chornological book which mentions the passover three times in the book. It is purely accepte theory and no more, brother.

It is a somewhat complicated thing to study, but if you think it is important, I will oblige.

ME: I'd be happy to see what you come up with, brother.

By the way, your English is very good.

Thanks.

My name is Salvatore. Nice to read ya.
