The Book of Job - New King James Version (NKJV)
Job Chapter 1
1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil. And seven sons and three daughters were born to him. Also, his possessions were seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred female donkeys, and a very large household, so that this man was the greatest of all the people of the East.
And his sons would go and feast in their houses, each on his appointed day, and would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. So it was, when the days of feasting had run their course, that Job would send and sanctify them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts. Thus Job did regularly.
Satan Attacks Jobs Character
Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them. And the LORD said to Satan, From where do you come? So Satan answered the LORD and said, From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it. Then the LORD said to Satan, Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil? So Satan answered the LORD and said, Does Job fear God for nothing? Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face!
And the LORD said to Satan, Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person. So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.
Job Loses His Property and Children
13 Now there was a day when his sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brothers house; and a messenger came to Job and said, The oxen were plowing and the donkeys feeding beside them, when the Sabeans raided them and took them awayindeed they have killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you! While he was still speaking, another also came and said, The fire of God fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants, and consumed them; and I alone have escaped to tell you!
And while he was still speaking, another also came and said, The Chaldeans formed three bands, raided the camels and took them away, yes, and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you! While he was still speaking, another also came and said, Your sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brothers house, and suddenly a great wind came from across the wilderness and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young people, and they are dead; and I alone have escaped to tell you!
Then Job arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell to the ground and worshiped. And he said: Naked I came from my mothers womb, And naked shall I return there. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; Blessed be the name of the LORD.
In all this Job did not sin nor charge God with wrong.

Pj says Ella, Phillip and the lord have been thru Job several times he so longs to clear up the traditions of men, and satan's lies abot being on a string he needs no string adam and eve give him theirs, that is the beginning of that story if one does not get in agreement with the word, one can not go to the next step.
If you will go the latter part of job where is first rebuked by the prophet and then the father, and then Job repenting.
Satan does not need nor does he go to the lord to do anything with man, he violated a spiritual law and gave satan place to do just as he did to him and his family, man reaps what so ever he soweth. Fear is a spiritual force just just as faith is, fear is of the kingdom of Darkness. The first example of wicked twisted faith (fear) is right here: 1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
And man reaped as he sowed in fear spiritual death...
5 And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.
12 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.
ob 3:25 For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.

PJ, HAVE YOU BEEN DRINKING?:Mug:...this is what is written in God's Word the Holy Bible;#1. New King Kames Version: Job Chapter 1: verses 6. Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. 7.And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. 8. And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?
9.Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? 10. Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. 11. But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. 12. And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD
#2. This is what is written in the New International Version the Holy Bible Job Chapter1:verse 6, One day the angels came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came with them. 7. The LORD said to Satan, Where have you come from? Satan answered the LORD, From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it. 8. Then the LORD said to Satan, Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.
9.Does Job fear God for nothing? Satan replied. Have you not put a hedge around him and his household andeverything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. 11. But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face. 12. The LORD said to Satan, Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger. Then Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.
#3. This is what is written in the American Standard Bible Job Chapter 1: verse 6, Now it came to pass on the day when the sons of God came to present themselves before Jehovah, that Satan also came among them. 7. And Jehovah said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered Jehovah, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. 8. And Jehovah said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job? for there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and turneth away from evil.
9. Then Satan answered Jehovah, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? 10. Hast not thou made a hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath, on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. 11. But put forth thy hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will renounce thee to thy face. 12. And Jehovah said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thy hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of Jehovah.
#4. And this is the last one I will give out, this is what is written in the Amplified Bible, Job Chapter 1: verse 6.Now there was a day when the sons (the angels) of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan (the adversary and accuser) also came among them.7.And the Lord said to Satan, From where did you come? Then Satan answered the Lord, From going to and fro on the earth and from walking up and down on it.8. And the Lord said to Satan, Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who [reverently] fears God and abstains from and shuns evil [because it is wrong]?
9. Then Satan answered the Lord, Does Job [reverently] fear God for nothing?10. Have You not put a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have conferred prosperity and happiness upon him in the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. 11. But put forth Your hand now and touch all that he has, and he will curse You to Your face.12. And the Lord said to Satan (the adversary and the accuser), Behold, all that he has is in your power, only upon the man himself put not forth your hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.
PJ, Need I ost more Bible on this topic? Now if you can't believe that satan went before God to get permission to test Jopb after reading what God has said in His Holy Word, then you've got a problem...Satan can't do anything to God's children without FIRST getting permission from God to test us. Satan is under God's power and control when it comes to Christian believers, he must get permission from God to test us. And again I ask you, HAVE YOU BEEN DRINKING?:Mug::toomuch::laugh:

I guess the lesson from the book of Job would not be that the satan is under the commandment of G-d.
I wonder if the book would have been included in the Bible if it would state so otherwise....:excited:
The more important message would rather be, that Job is holding unto G-d in a completely wrong way. As do many, many people!
Jobs presuppositions (as he is rigurously keeping his rituals - see chapter 1) come down more or less to this:
If good people are doing well in health and wealth.
That reflects exactly what most people would think is right and just.
If bad people are doing well in wealth and health, well... then we know that one day..... they have to stand before G-d and then Justice will be done
Now the other side of the coin
If "bad" people are stripped from wealth.... our idea of justice is still in tact....
Yet...
If good people are stripped from health and wealth.... then our idea of justice, which we think we derive from G-ds Divine Justice, does not work anymore.
We cannot connect G-ds identity of being Good, with our reality that despite we are not bad, even fairly good people, we still die of cancer, or lose our possessions....
Yet we are ALL, the good, bad and inbetween, under G-ds Grace and Mercy ONLY!
And whether the satan can only act with G-ds permission is not important at all.... truth is, he acts and can take us away from G-d if we refuse to understand what is taught to Job.
I guess we so easily stick in our philosofy of what we think is just and unfair.... because Job, being good as says G-d twice, does NOT make the mistake we do: Job, at satans first attack, does not sin (see Job 1:22)
But then.... the book, and the lessons for us, only begin!
The book of Job has so many insights more... particulary for good people like ourselves...
I can only recommend to read and study it. And preferably before you yourself are being reshaped and molded....

Error (where is the edit button??!!)
I say: but then the book, and the lessons for us, only begin
should read:
but then, the book, and the lessons FOR JOB, only begin.
And I would like to add:
Before we can even begin to learn as Job is brought to learn, we should first aspire to not sin, like Job, when he loses his possessions and his children....
When we confess the same words as Job does in chapter 1:20+21 (and in doing so wave away permanently the above described philosophy of what is just and unfair), we are ready to learn from the book of Job
Goodness.... I am really deep in it, aint I .... just to think that I am in Bruxelles, waiting to be attended for a budgetmeeting with my bosses.... I should have entered a caf and see if I bumb into a Mr McDreamy :ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:
