"And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him" (1 John 5:15).

The prayer of faith is prevailing, successful prayer. It assails the kingdom of heaven with holy violence, and carries it as by storm (Matt. 11:12). It believes that God has both the heart and the armboth the love that moves him and the power that enables himto do all and to grant all that his pleading child requests of him.

Reflect on a few attributes of believing prayer.

First, it is real prayer because it expresses need. It springs from a felt necessity of the mercy which it craves. It is sincere prayer, welling up from a soul schooled in the knowledge of its deep poverty and need. Oh, how much passes for real prayer which is not prayerwhich is not the breathing of the soul, nor the language of the heart, nor the expression of need. There is in it no true approach to God, no thirsting for Christ, no desire for holiness. If God were to bestow the things which had been so thoughtlessly and heartlessly asked, the individual would be taken by surprise.

Second, the prayer of faith is importunate and persevering. It will not take a refusal. It will not be put off with a denial. Thus Jacob wrestled with the Angel of the covenant until he prevailed; "I will not let you go unless you bless me" (Gen. 32:26). Thus the woman of Canaan would not release the Savior from her hold until he had granted her suit"even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table" (Matt. 15:27). And thus, too, the man who besieged the house of his friend at midnight for bread and would not go away until he obtained it (Luke 11:58), and the oppressed widow who sought justice at the hands of the unrighteous and reluctant judge until he righted her (Luke 18:18) illustrate the nature of that prayereven earnest, persevering prayerwhich prevails with God, and obtains the blessing.

Third, believing prayer is humble. How low in the dust the truly importunate suppliant lies before God! There is nothing of bold ruffianism, of unholy freedom, in the cases of earnest prayer which we have cited. There is no irreverence of manner, nor brashness of speech, nor rushing into God's holy presence as if he were an equal. But rather that awful consciousness of the Divine presence, that profound spirit of self-abasement which seems to say, "How awesome is this place!" (Gen. 28:17). "I am unworthyhow can I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth" (Job 40:4 NIV). Oh, how lowly is the heart from whence arises the incense of believing prayer! How utterly unworthy it feels of the least of all the Lord's mercies; how unfit to be a channel of grace to others; and with what trembling it lies prostrate upon the spot where God, the Triune God, is passing by! "Be not rash with your mouth, nor let your heart be hasty to utter a word before God, for God is in heaven and you are on earth. Therefore let your words be few" (Eccl. 5:2).

Fourth, the prayer of faith is submissive. Its utmost range of request is bounded, and its deepest fervor of spirit is chastened, by submission to the Divine will. It presumes neither to dictate to God, nor to counsel him. It leaves the mode of answering its petitionsthe time, the place, the waywith God. Trained, perhaps, in the school of bitter disappointment, it has learned to see as much love in God's heart in withholding as in granting its requestsas much wisdom in delaying as in promptly bestowing the blessing. And, seeing that delays in prayer are not denials of prayer, he who believes will not make haste to anticipate God's mind, or to run ahead of God's blessing. "Yet not what I will, but what you will" (Mark 14:36) ever breathes from the praying lip of faith.

Fifth, yet another attribute of believing prayerthe crowning attributeis that it is presented in the name of Jesus. As prayer is life from God through Christ, so through Christ it is life breathed back again to God. It approaches the Divine Majesty by the "new and living way" (Heb. 10:20). Its mighty argument, and its one prevailing plea, is the atoning blood of Jesus. This is the ground of its boldness. This the reason of its nearness. And this the secret of its power and success. "Whatever you ask in my name," observes the Son, "this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son" (John 14:13).

by Octavius Winslow, 1856

Come, my soul, thy suit prepare:

Jesus loves to answer pray'r;

he himself has bid thee pray,

therefore will not tell thee, "Nay."

Thou art coming to a King,

large petitions with thee bring;

for his grace and pow'r are such,

none can ever ask too much.

With my burden I begin:

Lord, remove this load of sin;

let thy blood, for sinners spilt,

set my conscience free from guilt.

Lord, I come to thee for rest,

take possession of my breast;

there thy blood-bought right maintain,

and without a rival reign.

While I am a pilgrim here,

let thy love my spirit cheer;

as my Guide, my Guard, my Friend,

lead me to my journey's end.

Show me what I have to do,

ev'ry hour my strength renew:

let me live a life of faith,

let me die thy people's death.

YES! YES! great post DLJ...thank you!:applause:

There are people who are so afraid to come before God and ask of Him, not knowing that God invites us to ask of Him for ALL things that we desire or have need of Him to do for us. Pray is the only way we can communicate with God our needs, Jesus tells us this in Matthews chapters 5 and 6,.

If we view God as our personal Father and say we are His children, then we should ask of Him as our Father, as Jesus says, God already knows what things we have need of, and He encourages us to come before Him humbly in prayer, not for His sake, but our sake in submission to Him IN our prayer making our prayer request known TO Him as a humble child asks of his/her earthly father.

Hebrews chapter 4:14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven,Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses,(KJV-who cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities) but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach(come) God’s throne of grace with confidence (BOLDLINESS), so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Well no the post does not in any way agree with the prayer of faith, there is noting in the post that could ever even begin to teach one to pray the prayer of faith.

If any is interested it is not hard to teach to a willing hearing ear and of a pure heart.

As a christian we should never post anything that is not accurate for all the harm it can do to the innocent. not to mention it dishonors the lord.

I John 2:15; 4:3: Do not love the world or anything in the world. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with the wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures."

I John 5:14: "This is the confidence we:rolleyes: have in approaching God: that if we ask anything **ACCORDING TO HIS WILL**, He hears us."

We should only strive for and have faith in TREASURES and REWARDS in Heaven!!

I John 2:15: " Do not love the world or anything in the world!"

2 Corinthians 4:18: So we fix our eyes:rolleyes: not on what is seen, but on what is *UNSEEN*. For what is seen is temporary, but what is *UNSEEN is eternal.

In the old covenant God's commandments were only preached to Jews but in the New Covenant Jesus commands us to preach to every nation in the world teaching them to obey *EVERYTHING* He commanded and everything would also include all of the approximately 400 NT commandments also taught in Acts to Revelation {See 2 Timothy 3-16 to 4:2.}

There were 613 OT commandments and Jesus changed many of them including all of the strict Sabbath commands and all of the commands to stone someone for sinning {Jesus says that he who is without sin should cast the first stone} Jesus also eliminated all the strict Levitical dietary laws declaring that all foods are now clean. And Jesus also commanded us not to make any vows or oaths {Matt 5:33-37}on anything Just let your Yes be yes and your no no.

Jesus also eliminated the eye for an eye laws and commanded us to always offer up the other cheek and to love {See Matt 5:38-48} our enemies. And of course Jesus eliminated all sacrifices and offerings for sin by the sacrifice of Himself. Jesus also eliminated the earthly rewards for faithful service and commanded us to sell our possessions and give to the poor and get TREASURES IN HEAVEN and **THEN** to come follow Him!

Luke 12:33,34: Jesus says, Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted....For where your treasure is there your heart will be also.:angel:

Matthew 20:20-24: All these {Commandments} I have kept, the young man said. What do I still lack? Jesus answered, If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. **THEN** come, follow Me. When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. Then Jesus says, It is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.

Luke 6:20: Jesus says Blessed are you:rolleyes: who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.

Matthew 19:27-30: Peter said to Jesus, We have left **EVERYTHING** to follow you! What then will there be for us? Jesus says, I tell you the Truth, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on His glorious throne, you who have followed Me {Including Paul}will also sit on 12 thrones...And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for My sake will receive 100 times as much and will inherit eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and many who are last {In this life}will be first. And there will be plenty of room for 100 houses and 100 fields in the New Jerusalem since it will be over 1377 miles long and wide and high.

I John 2:3-5: We know that we:rolleyes: have come to know Him {Jesus} if we *OBEY HIS COMMANDS*. The man who says, I know him, but does not do what He commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys His Word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in Him.

I Timothy 6:5-10: There are men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain. But godliness with Contentment is great gain....If we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

I Timothy 2:9,10: I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.

Matthew 5:19,20: Jesus says, Do not store up for yourself treasures on earth {THE SEEN}, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves **TREASURES** in Heaven!{THE **UNSEEN**} Luke 12:33 adds Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide for yourselves.. a **TREASURE** in heaven {THE **UNSEEN**} that will not be exhausted. For where your **TREASURE** is there your heart will be also!!

2 Corinthians 6:6-10: As servants of God we commend ourselves in every way; in great endurance, in troubles, hardships and distresses, in beatings, imprisonments; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger; in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; in truthful speech and in the power of God...Dying, and yet we live on, beaten, and yet not killed; sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; **POOR**, yet making many rich, **HAVING NOTHING**{THE SEEN}, and yet **POSSESSING EVERYTHING**!{THE **UNSEEN**!

Hebrews 11:1,6: Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see....And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to God must believe that He exists and that He **REWARDS** those who earnestly seek Him."

Ephesians 6:7,8: "Serve wholeheartedly...because you know that the Lord will *REWARD* everyone for whatever good he does!"

2 John 1:8: "Watch out that you do not lose what you have worked for, but that you may be *REWARDED* fully!"

I Corinthians 3:6-9: Paul said, "I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God makes things grow. The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be *REWARDED* according to his own labor. For we are God's fellow workers!"

Daniel 12:3: "Those who impart wisdom will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever!"

Matthew 5:11,12: Jesus says, "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your *REWARD* in heaven!" {See Luke 6:35}

Revelation 22:12: Jesus says, "Behold, I am coming soon! My {**unseen**}*REWARD*is with Me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done!"

2 Corinthians 5:9,10: "So we make it our goal to please Him..For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him {**UNSEEN REWARDS & TREASURES**} for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad!"

Matthew 16:27: Jesus says, For the Son of Man is going to come in His **FATHER'S GLORY WITH HIS ANGELS**:angel::angel:{See Matt 24:30-31;25:31-40}, and **THEN**{NOT NOW} He will *REWARD*{**THE UNSEEN REWARD**} each person:rolleyes: according to what he has done."

Jesus says in Rev 2:17; 3:4, 5, 21: To him who overcomes...I will give a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it:rolleyes:.....He will walk with Me for he is worthy:rolleyes:... I will acknowledge his name before My Father and His angels.... I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem.....I will write on him my New Name... and I will give him the right to sit with Me on My throne, just as I overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

So Salvation is a 100% FREE GIFT as per Ephesians 2:8,9 and eternal *REWARDS* for God's faithful saints are 100% earned!

I Peter 1:13: Therefore, prepare your minds for *ACTION*, and set your hope *FULLY* on the {**UNSEEN**} grace to be given *YOU* when Jesus Christ is *REVEALED*.":applause::angel::peace:

Wrong phillipjohn I just quote Scripture and is is you who twist Scripture to agree with your Satanic Prosperity Gospel.

Matthew 4:8-10: The Devil took Jesus to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. "All this I will give you," he said, "If you will bow down and worship me." Jesus said to him, "Away from Me Satan!:devil: For it is written: "Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only."

And so PJ if you want the things of this world you will have to bow down to the god of this world and worship Satan!:devil:

Okay Richard if anyone including you, will walk in light of that scripture they would never again say that Jesus (man's prosperity) guarantor, is of Satan, to further expound on what I have said I have always said Jesus is man's prosperity guarantor, spiritually, materially,physically and financially.

So PJ I will just quote God's Word to which you have no answer along with Joel Osteen and all those who worship the things of this world:

I John 2:15; 4:3: "Do not love the world or anything in the world. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with the wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures."

I John 5:14: "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything **ACCORDING TO HIS WILL**, He hears us."

I John 2:15: " Do not love the world or anything in the world!"

2 Corinthians 4:18: So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is *UNSEEN*. For what is seen is temporary, but what is *UNSEEN is eternal.

Luke 12:33,34: Jesus says, Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted....For where your treasure is there your heart will be also.

PJ, please don't argue with Richard, he's in disagreement even with what God speaks in His word about asking, seeking, knocking, receiving in WHATSOEVER THINGS you desire or ask for when you pray believe without doubting and it shall be done. Again I say, to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning ANYTHING THAT THEY ASK, IT WILL BE DONE FOR THEM BY MY FATHER IN HEAVEN, Thus says the Lord...

So Richard are you making God's word a lie? I see you are not posting the complete scripture passages to the quotes you have posted in and effort to try an support your beliefs and foolishness of thoughts.Maybe you should explain what is meant by "WAHTSOEVER THINGS"...

PJ, If Richard has no hopes, no dreams, no aspirations, no desires or visions to accomplish anything in his life, to do anymore than what he is doing that's his fault and problem. God says ask of Him in prayer for whatever it is we desire of Him, let our prayer requests been made known to Him. So if Richard has no prayer requests then so be it. But he doesn't have the power to stop or hinder anyone else from accpomlishing their goals, visions, and dreams in life.

PJ, God teaches us that a person is whatsoever he/she thinks of him/herself to be... therefore, if living in poverty and never accomplishing not one thing in life is what Richard desire, and thinks of himself, then this is his thought of himslf in low self-esteem, and should not be forced upon anyone else who see more to life than being poor or unaccomplished.

Richard, ifa person has dreams and visions, to be more in life than you have accomplished and dream and desires to be, and based on what GOD SAY in His word, why are you trying to force your thoughts and spiritual bondage upon others. Don't you know you sure can't stop ayone else from having faith and asking, seeking, and knocking on heavens doors requesting God to help accomplish and fulfilling those dreams and goals and visions.

Poverty and unaccomplisged dreams is a choice, and IS NOT the will of God... complacancy is a sin, unfulfilled dreams and unaccomplished visions God has given to a person is also a sin...

Richard, you are a hinderance to the faith and ignorant in the word and the things of God. And there is nothing that can come up against the word fo God expect the word its self... you are in such spiritual bondages it is shameful! Your prayer request before God should be to ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit, and He will do so,“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

“Which of you as fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If you have faith, and DO NOT DOUBT, you shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if you shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and you be cast into the sea; it shall be done. And ALL THINGS, WHATSOEVER YOU shall ASK in PRAYERr, BELIEVING, YOU WILL RECEIVE.
